Experimental studies on the wound healing under medicament and acupuncture anesthesia in dogs
1984
Jang, W. | Suh, D.S. | Park, N.Y. | Kim, O.N. (Chonnam National Univ., Kwangju (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine)
Effects on the healing process of the wound was compared between acupuncture and medicament anesthesia. Ten adult dogs were used and for medicament anesthesia thiopental sodium (Ravonal R) was injected. Incisions were made under anesthesia and thereafter clinical signs were observed and histopathological examinations were performed. No differences were found in the clinical signs between the 2 groups. Macroscopically and microscopically, the healing process was a little faster in the wounds under medicament anesthesia

1984
Kang, Y.B. (Office of Rural Development, Suwon (Korea R.). Inst. of Veterinary Research) | Byun, S.Y. (Cheju Provincial Veterinary Research Lab., Chejudo (Korea R.))
A migratory bird, the white stork Ciconia boyciana was captured from a pond in the Chejudo, Korea R. on the 18th of Dec. 82. The morphological characteristics were described as seen in the binocular stereoscopic microscope and further fine structures were observed by means of the scanning electron microscope (model; ISI-DS-130). The bird was examined for ectoparasites at the Cheju Provincial Veterinary Research Lab. Two kinds of specimens were collected from the head and body feathers. The specimens were sent to the Inst. of Veterinary Research in Anyang, Korea R. for classification and identification

1984
Kwak, S.D. (Kyongsang National Univ., Chinju (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine)
The present observations were focussed mainly on the macroscopic and histopathological examinations of polyps found on the stomach of 4-month-old pig, small intestine of 3-month-old pig and cecum of 9-month-old dog. The polyps were gray or pink hemispherical shapes attached by the broad base to the gastrointestinal walls and were 3 to 8 mm in diameter and diffuse appearance. The surfaces of polyps were flat or indented and were ulcerated in some large polyps

1984
Rim, B.M. (Chonbuk National Univ., Chonju (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine) | Kim, C.S. (Rochester Univ. (USA)) | Han, D.S. (Wonkwang Univ., Iri (Korea R.))
Basic biological and epidemiological observation on eperythrozoonosis like disease of swine in Korea R. was taken, using 157 naturally affected pigs and blood samples of 250 normal pigs. Although infection rates, morphology and sizes of the organisms in stained blood films varied depending on the season, all of the affected pigs showed positive infection and the normal pigs were found 54% positive over the year. The organisms appeared to have 5 morphological forms with sizes of 0.5-5.0 micron but the sizes had increment to 1.4-8.5 micron with cytoplasmic granules when the blood was stored under 0 deg C for more than 1 week or -20 deg C for 24 hrs.

1984
Lee, C.W. (Kyongsang National Univ., Chinju (Korea R.)) | Iyengar, M.R. (Pennsylvania Univ. (USA). Dept of Veterinary Medicine)
Cells with an epithelioid morphology were isolated from the rabbit myometrium and were grown in culture. The cells had a doubling time of 53 hrs when grown in the presence of 10% fetal calf serum in Basal Eagle's medium with 3mM glutamine. In the presence of estrogen plus insulin, doubling time was reduced to 40 hrs. Creatine kinase activity upon reaching confluency was determined to be 0.019 uit per mg protein. Approximately 30% of the activity was extractable only in high ionic strength buffer. Cells also contained plasminogen activator with a specific activity of 140 CTA units per million cells

1984
Han, D.S. (Wonkwang Univ., Iri (Korea R.). Dept. of Veterinary Medicine) | Lee, C.S. (Kyongbuk National Univ., Taegu (Korea R.))
In this study lactating female rabbits and strains of coliforms previously isolated from acute and chronic mastitis cases in dairy cattle were used. The pathological changes on mastitis experimentally induced with the coliform strains and the mammary glands after infusions of Escherichia coli suspension together with dexamethasone, dextran iron or transferrin were grossly and microscopically observed. In the bacterial suspension-infused groups by E. coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobacter aerogenes, the affected quarters of udder showed gross swelling, hyperemia, hemorrhage, focal necrosis and firmness
