Diabetes mellitus is a type of chronic disease that is non-transmitted. Aceh province is the province with the seventh-highest prevalence of diabetes mellitus in Indonesia at 2.4%. People with type 2 diabetes mellitus are at risk of various complications and can cause death. Self-management of diabetes is one of the things that can be done by people with diabetes mellitus in controlling various complications. This study aimed to find out the relationship between diabetes self-management and blood glucose control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Ulee Kareng Subdistrict, Banda Aceh. This type of sampling method in this research was cross-sectional with the number of samples in this study as many as 88 respondents. The study was conducted using the DSMQ questionnaire filling method to assess diabetes self-management level and blood glucose level value when respondents assess blood glucose control. The results of the study obtained are 30.7% of respondents have a good level of diabetes self- management, 44.3% enough, and 25% bad. As for blood glucose control, 65.9% of respondents had uncontrolled blood glucose levels, and 34.1% controlled. The results of the chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.000 and the spearman correlation test obtained a p-value of 0.000, as well as a correlation coefficient of 0.492. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between moderate and unidirectional levels between diabetes self-management and blood glucose control of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Ulee Kareng Subdistrict, Banda Aceh.

The negative effect of consuming unhealthy snacks is foodborne illness caused by food and drinks that have been contaminated with germs. This problems need a serius intervention especially education for the school children to develop understanding of the importance of healthy, safe and nutritious snacks. It was reported that 73% of elementary school students have low knowledge and 81% have low attitude towards healthy snacks. Amongst efforts to educate children on healthy snacks is the audio-visual media. This study is conducted to investigate the effectiveness of animated video and power point as learning media towards the perception of healthy snacks on elementary school students in Indonesia. The design is quasi experiment with control group, with the sample of grade 5s' elementary school students. Data were collected using questionnaires developed from health belief model and intervention is given in the form of health education using animated video media. The results show that there are perception differences in susceptibility (P=0.0001), seriousness (P=0.0001), benefits (P=0.0001), and obstacles (P=0.0001) related to healthy snacks before and after education with animated video. Based on that, it is expected to the schools and parents to give attention to the quality of the snacks by educating and providing the children with healthy snack options.

Up until the recent past, zoos served limited function, primarily existing for entertainment value. Today’s zoos, however, are serving many roles, chief among them: species conservation of captive animals. The biggest zoo in Brazil, S?o Paulo Zoological Park Foundation, has among its 2000 animals and many species of wild cats. The presence of domestic cats living freely in zoos is common and can be a source of spreading disease. The aim of this study was to verify the variety and prevalence of parasites found in the feces of felids (feral and wild) living in the S?o Paulo Zoo. The results of this parasitological analysis have been obtained from the laboratory of clinical analysis and correspond to the 4-year period beginning January/2009 and ending December/2012. Eight species of parasites were identified in the feces of captive wild cats and three in the feces of feral cats. For those captives, Toxocara cati (7.95%) had the highest prevalence, followed by Toxascaris leonina (7.58%), Isospora sp. (2.03%), Hymenolepis nana (0.92%), Eimeria sp., Giardia sp. and Blastocystis sp. (0.37% each) and Ascaris sp. (0.18%). Among the feral cats, we found Toxocara cati (59.26%), Giardia sp. (22.22%) and Isospora sp. (11.11%). For the captive group, we also distinguished natives from exotic species, finding native species to be more frequently parasitized than the exotic ones. Key to our findings, though, was the fact that a few parasite species were found among all groups of felids, specifically (Toxocara cati, Giardia sp. and Isospora sp). Further research is needed, however, to confirm that transmission of these parasites is occurring between and among these groups.

The clinical breast self-examination is one of the strategies to prevent breast cancer to women. Previous study was conducting to promote breast self-examination, but the study did not consider about the role of culture on health behavior. The purpose of this quasi-experimental design was to examine the effect of cultural-based breast self-examination (BSE) educational program on BSE self-efficacy among nursing students. The cultural-based BSE educational program was developed based on Banduras Social Cognitive Theory and Islamic Culture. A stratified proportionate random sampling method was employed to recruit nursing students at Public Nursing College, Faculty of Medicine, Syiah Kuala University in Aceh, Indonesia. Seventy-six students who met the inclusion criteria were recruited, 36 students were in the experimental group and 40 students were in the control group. The experimental group received the cultural-based BSE educational program including exploring Islamic mandate on prevention and individual responsibility in health promotion and cultural related beliefs toward BSE, health education, BSE training, and follow-up. The BSE self-efficacy scores were examined after 3 weeks of program implementation. The statistical analysis was conducted using dependent t-test and independent t-test. The results showed, the BSE self- efficacy of the nursing students in the experimental group were significantly higher than before participation ( t (35) =-5.02, p .001). Further, the BSE self-efficacy score in the experimental group was significantly higher than thecontrol group after participation the program (t (74) = 3.49, p .01). The result showed differences of the overall BSE self-efficacy and the subscale: BSE procedural efficacy (p .01), but not significant differences for the subscale: BSE barrier management efficacy (p .05). The cultural-based BSE educational program is effective in enhancing BSE self-efficacy among nursing students. The study suggests that the application of the cultural-based BSE educational program would be extended for other women and other nursing students in different areas.

The research objective was to determine the beef cattle business development strategy in increasing the economic value of farmers in Sukabumi Regency. The research was conducted in Ciracap District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java in 2020. The research used survey methods and interviews with 65 farmers and 9 extension workers from BPP Sukabumi Regency. Primary data and secondary data were analyzed using statistical analysis, economic analysis and Swot analysis descriptively and quantitatively. The results showed that the farmers' average land ownership was 1.57 ha/farmer. The farmer profit is IDR. 250.548.975 /year, the value of R/C is 1.14. The related variable (dependent) which affects farmer profit and business efficiency of beef cattle has an effect on the95% confidence level. Swot analysis of internal and external factors in the development of beef cattle business showed the strengths of the working area of the Sukabumi Regency BPP including available labor, agricultural land area, grazing land, the number of cows being raised and the support of government institutions, private companies and other institutions as well as livestock market opportunities wide open. The weaknesses are limited land resources, business capital, increased feed prices and the price of beef cattle that were controlled by middlemen. It is suggested that strategies to increase beef cattle population and economic value of the farmers are by optimizing the function of empty land as grazing land and forage cultivation. Business cooperation, marketing networks and guaranteed beef cattle prices are pivotal in order to take advantage of relatively unfulfilled market opportunities.

Burns are caused by heat exposure, such as fire, radiation, electricity or chemicals that can damage the skin and affect the body's systems. The aim of this study was to find out the effect of the ethanol extract of Malacca leaves (Phyllanthus emblica) on the number of fibroblast cells in white rats (Rattus norvegicus) that have burned. This study used 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were divided into 4 groups that smeared with aquadest as a negative control (P1), 5% ethanol extract gel of Malacca leaves (P2), 10% ethanol extract gel of Malacca leaves (P3), and positive control applied with bioplasenton gel (P4). The IIA degree burn were created by placing a 2x2 cm hot iron plate on the back of the rat for 5 seconds. The euthanasia performed to all animal and the skin samples were collected after 15 days of treatment. Then histopathological preparations were made using HE staining. The number of fibroblast cells were analyzed by ANOVA test. The average number of white rats (Rattus norvegicus) fibroblast cells that suffered burns P1 (negative control) had a number of 7 1.4 cells/visual. Whereas th e P2 group had a number of 4.2 1.58 cells/visual. This value has a significant difference with the negative control. But the P2 and P3 values (3 1.51 cells/visual) there is no significant different with the P4 value (positive control) with an average number of P4 fibroblast cells were 2 0.4 cells/visual. The results of this study concluded that the ethanol extract of malacca leaves 5% and 10% had an effect againts accelerating burns healing in white rats ( Rattus norvegicus).

This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of diode laser in accelerating the healing process of ‎injured tendons and to determine the best ‎irradiation doses for impulse and continuous laser ‎irradiation. The semimembranosus muscle tendon of forty mature local breed rabbits ‎‎(Oryctolagus cuniculus) of both sexes was partially injured under ‎general anesthesia. The rabbits ‎were randomized into five groups and treated on the first day postoperatively. Group C served ‎as a control and ‎received no treatment, while groups A, B, and D were subjected to diode ‎impulse laser with a power of 2×10-3 watts and a wavelength of 904 ‎nm for 15, 25, and 35 ‎min per session, respectively. Group E received continuous diode laser for 30 min per ‎session with a power of 3×10-3 watts and a wavelength of 904 ‎nm. The treated groups received irradiation for 5, 8, ‎‎15, and 21 days postoperatively. Subsequent healing processes were ‎assessed macroscopically ‎and microscopically at each time point. In treated groups versus the control group, epitenon ‎thickness increased ‎from day 5, inflammatory and fibroblast cell responses were more evident, ‎and collagen fibers were clearer and more differentiated. On day 15, when the remodeling ‎stage began, group B healed best. The impulse diode laser was found to be more effective than ‎the ‎continuous diode laser in promoting the healing of surgical defects of the tendons at varying ‎degrees. In the continuous diode laser group, ‎there was a sustained high cellular response until ‎day 21 with the appearance of unorganized and irregular collagen fibers. This study ‎‎demonstrated that diode laser can accelerate the healing process of injured tendons and that ‎impulse diode laser is more effective than ‎continuous diode laser.

Cryptosporidium is one of the most common protozoan’s parasites with remarkable infectivity of a wide range of animals, including mammals and birds. Domestic pigeons (Columba livia domestica) act as a potential reservoir for several species of Cryptosporidium because they live in close proximity to humans. This study was conducted to assess the genetic diversity of Cryptosporidium in domestic pigeons in Iraq. A total of one hundred samples obtained from feces of domestic pigeons in Babylon province were included. After being exposed to microbial examination, all fecal samples were subsequently screened by nested polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for the possible recognition of Cryptosporidium species. Microscopy tests detected only 14/100 (14%) of infection with Cryptosporidium, while molecular tests detected 21/100 (21%) of the same targeted parasite. Sequencing experiments showed a high prevalence of C. meleagridis with 13/21 (61.90%), followed by C. baileyi with 7/21 (33.33%), while only one infection was detected with C. hominis (1/21) (4.76%). No co-infection with mixed Cryptosporidium spp. was observed, and sex factor was not found to affect the infection rate. In conclusion, this study informed a high prevalence of C. meleagridis in domestic pigeons than both C. baileyi and C. hominis, respectively, signifying a higher zoonotic potential of C. meleagridis between domestic pigeons and their handlers. This finding may raise more questions with regard to the increasing infectivity of C. meleagridis in human. This is the first important screening study in Iraq that uses molecular methods for the detection of Cryptosporidium in domesticated pigeons.

The infectious bursal disease (IBD) is a highly contagious and immunosuppressive disease of broiler chickens and the development of a new genetic variant of the virus is responsible for major economic losses in the poultry industry. For this purpose, it was essential to isolate the molecular characterization of the virus from vaccinated broiler in Erbil, Iraq. Clinically, the infectious bursal disease is characterized by high mortality (10-15%) with hemorrhagic lesions on the breast and thigh muscles, hemorrhagic and edematous bursa of diseased chickens. In this study, the Bursa of Fabricus (BF) samples were collected between June 2018 and January 2019. Histopathological changes of the bursal sections showed existence of the cystic vacuolation of the lymphoid follicles with leukocytes infiltration as pathognomic features for IBD virus infection; and homogenates samples inoculated in chorioallantoic-membrane showed mortality in the second passage with varying degrees of hemorrhages. Agar gel precipitation test (AGPT) was positive with specific antisera. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and nucleotide sequence analysis of five fragments in the hypervariable region of VP2 gene revealed transition and transversion changes. Among the five recent IBD virus isolates, the rate of identity was approximately 99% as compared with the very virulent IBD virus from Iran (ID: DQ785171.1). Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the five isolates were closely related to the Asian group with a different percentage ranged from 98-99% while it was 97% in the European group. The local isolate of the virus was registered in the Genebank under the accession number MN48052.1. In conclusion, the isolated IBDVs belong to a very virulent group. In addition, this study demonstrates the spread of this virulent virus to poultry industries in Erbil, Iraq. Further widespread surveys could help in delivering more information on the virus variability and might assist in designing novel vaccines for this pathogen.

This study aimed to investigate the impacts of the Trigonella foenum-graecum (T. foenum-graecum) seeds on the female gonad. A total of twenty local rabbits were used in this study; were divided into four groups (5 each): first group (G1) was considered as the control group. The second group (G2), third group (G3) and fourth group (G4) were fed daily1.5%, 3%, and 4.5% of T. foenum-graecum seeds respectively for 60 days (twice daily). At the end of the experiment, the animals were euthanized by diethyl ether (C2H52O). Then the abdomen was incised, and the samples of ovaries were collected and fixed by 10% neutral buffered formalin. The histological assessment was done with a paraffin embedding technique and the histological sections were stained with Hematoxylin and Eosin stain. The result showed that the numbers of primary and secondary follicles were significantly (P<0.05) decreased in G3and G4 compared with the control (G1) and G2. The numbers of Graafian follicles were significantly P<0.05 decreased G4 compared with other groups. The diameters of the primary, secondary, and Graafian follicles were significantly smaller than the other groups. The thickness of the granulosa cell layer in G3and G4 were significantly thinner than the other groups. The histological figures declared that the ovary of G2 was similar to that in G1. The histological sections of G3 and G4 were revealed marked cortical and medullary vascular congestion and focal hemorrhage; there were also marked follicular degeneration and cystic necrosis. The study concluded that the low concentration of T. foenum-graecum (fenugreek) seeds do not have any positive effect in terms of ovarian stimulation.
