Мета. Вивчити особливості цвітіння та плодоношення шовковиці плодової в умовах Правобережної частини Лісостепу України Методи. Дослідження проводили в зоні Лісостепу на експериментальній базі Інституту садівництва НААН упродовж 2021–2023 рр. Предметом слугував рослинний матеріал різних сортозразків шовковиці плодової селекційних форм від насіннєвого потомства сорту ‘Крупноплідна’; як контроль використовували рослини самоплідної шовковиці. Морфологічний опис структурних елементів генеративних органів та дослідження життєздатності пилку проводили згідно з опублікованими методиками. Плодоношення селекційних форм оцінювали за п’ятибаловою шкалою. Результати. Встановлено, що всі досліджувані рослини мають здатність до проростання пилку. Найбільше життєздатного пилку (75,1%) виявлено в селекційній чоловічій формі №5 за 12­годинної експозиції та концентрації сахарози, що становила 50%. 24­годинна експозиція спричиняла зниження до 63,1% енергії проростання. Остання була найменшою в пилкових зернах рослин триплоїдного сортозразка за обох використаних концентрацій сахарози. Порівняльна характеристика морфологічних ознак і насіннєвої продуктивності (в розрахунку на одне супліддя) селекційних форм M. alba показала генетичну різноманітність рослин сортозразків виду, що проявляється в різниці фенотипових ознак через мінливість діапазону їхнього вияву. Висновки. Найвищі показники проростання пилку шовковиці білої одержано для селекційної форми № 5 – 79,1 ± 0,36% (чоловічого екземпляра), за 25­відсоткової концентрації сахарози в поживному середовищі. Кількість плодів, що утворилися на дворічних пагонах, – 21–91 шт. Оцінка плодоношення селекційних форм становила 4–5 балів, а їхні супліддя були 2,26–3,97 см завдовжки (великі). Загалом, вивчення морфології генеративних органів селекційних форм M. alba, кожна з яких утворює виповнене насіння з високою енергією проростання (91–98%), показало непорушність репродуктивних функцій шовковиці, що вказує на успішне проходження рослинами всіх етапів органогенезу. | Purpose. The aim was to study the features of flowering and fruiting of the mulberry under conditions of the Right­Bank Forest­Steppe of Ukraine. Methods. The research was conducted in the forest steppe zone at the experimental base of the Institute of Horticulture of the NAAS in 2021–2023. The subject was plant material of different cultivars of mulberry (Morus alba), propagated from seed progeny of the ‘Krupnoplidna’ variety; self­fertile mulberry plants were used as a control. The morphological description of the structural elements of the reproductive organs and the study of pollen via­bility were carried out according to published methods. The fruiting of the breeding forms was evaluated on a five­point scale. Results. All plants tested were found to have the abi­lity to germinate pollen. The most viable pollen (75.1%) was found in male breeding form No. 5 after 12 hours exposure and a sucrose concentration of 50%. Exposure for 24 hours caused a decrease in germination energy of up to 63.1%. The latter was lowest in the pollen grains of plants of the triploid sample at both sucrose concentrations used. The comparison of morphological characteristics and seed productivity (per fruit) of the breeding forms of M. alba showed the genetic diversity of plants of cultivars of the species, which is manifested in the difference of phenotypic characteristics due to the variability of the range of their expression. Conclusions. The highest rates of white mulberry pollen germination were obtained for breeding form No. 5 – 79.1 ± 0.36% (male specimen) with 25% concentration of sucrose in the nutrient medium. The number of fruits formed on two­year­old shoots was 21–91. The evaluation of the fruiting of the cultivars was 4–5 points, and their infructescences were 2.26–3.97 cm long (large). In general, the study of the morphology of the reproductive organs of the breeding forms of M. alba, each of which forms filled seeds with high germination energy (91–98%), showed the intactness of the reproductive functions of mulberry, which indicates the successful passage of the plants through all stages of organogenesis.

Висновки. Найвищі показники проростання пилку шовковиці білої одержано для селекційної форми № 5 – 79,1 ± 0,36% (чоловічого екземпляра), за 25­відсоткової концентрації сахарози в поживному середовищі. Кількість плодів, що утворилися на дворічних пагонах, – 21–91 шт. Оцінка плодоношення селекційних форм становила 4–5 балів, а їхні супліддя були 2,26–3,97 см завдовжки (великі). Мета. Дослідити формування продуктивності сорту сої культурної ‘Говерла’ за використання різних елементів технології вирощування. Методи. Польові, лабораторні, статистичні (розрахунково­порівняльний, математично­статистичний). Результати. Встановлено ефективність весняного чизелювання за вирощування сої культурної сорту ‘Говерла’ в ґрунтово­кліматичних умовах Прикарпаття. Відзначено позитивний вплив досліджуваних способів обробітку ґрунту на фітосанітарний стан посівів. Зокрема, поєднання зяблевої оранки з весняним чизелюванням за внесення мінеральних добрив N30P30K30 та дворазового позакореневого обприскування посівів регулятором росту зумовило підвищення конкурентоздатності рослин проти бур’янів та знизило чисельність останніх на 46,2%, як порівняти з контролем. Виконання вищевказаних дій також сприяло збільшенню врожайності до 2,48 т/га, або на 57,0%, у середньому за три роки. Водночас зріс вихід кормових одиниць та перетравного протеїну – на 1,35 і 0,3 т/га відповідно. Висновки. Весняне чизелювання разом із зяблевою оранкою та раціональним поєднанням у системі удобрення побічної продукції попередника, запропонованих доз мінеральних добрив і регулятора росту в умовах Прикарпаття сприяли зниженню забур’яненості посівів на 46,2% та підвищенню врожайності сорту сої культурної ‘Говерла’ на 57,0%. | Purpose. To study the formation of the productivity of the ‘Hoverla’ soybean variety using different elements of cultivation technology.  Methods. Field, laboratory, statistical (calculation­comparative, mathematical­statistical). Results. The effectiveness of spring chisel ploughing for the cultivation of the soyabean variety ‘Hoverla’ in the soil and climatic conditions of the  Prykarpattia region was established. The positive effect of the studied tillage methods on the phytosanitary condition of the crop was noted. In particular, the combination of autumn ploughing and spring chisel ploughing with the application of N30P30K30 mineral fertiliser and double foliar spraying of crops with a growth regulator led to an increase in the competitiveness of plants against weeds and reduced the number of weeds by 46.2% compared to the control. The implementation of the above measures also contributed to an increase in yield to 2.48 t/ha, or 57.0% on average over three years. At the same time, the yield of forage units and digestible protein increased by 1.35 and 0.3 t/ha respectively. Conclusions. Spring chisel ploughing, together with autumn ploughing and a rational combination of the predecessor’s by­products, the proposed doses of mineral fertiliser and growth regulator in the conditions of the Prykarpattia region, helped to reduce the weediness of crops by 46.2% and increase the yield of the ‘Ho­verla’ soybean variety by 57.0%.

Purpose. Assessment and selection of self-pollinated S5 maize (Zea mays L.) families with high combining ability and wide adaptive capacity obtained on the basis of specially produced hybrids by crossing elite lines of various genetic plasms with the best main agronomic characters. Methods. Field studies, mathematico-statistical evaluation. Results. An amplitude of grain yield ranging from 5.96–10.96 t/ha (x = 8.44 t/ha) in 2013 to 2.67–7.59 t/ha (x = 5.08 t/ha) in 2014 was determined in the course of study of the testcrosses of self-pollinated S5 families. It was found that different response of genotypes of the studied testcrosses to the year conditions significantly affected the average yield level, which decreased in the stressful 2014 by 3.4 t/ha as compared to 2013. The results of the assessment based on the general and specific combining ability of new parent material of mixed germplasm were shown. A significant variability of the estimates of GCA (general combining ability) effects depending on the year conditions was observed in the course of study. A marked difference in the estimates of GCA effects based on the grain yield was revealed. They were persistently high in 19% of the best self-pollinated families in both years, 14% of the families had persistently low estimates of GCA effects, 67% changed their value depending on the genotype and year conditions. Conclusions. 17 best self-pollinated families with persistently high estimates of GCA, 6 families featuring high tolerance to drought and 4 families with persistently high variances of SCA were selected. The selected families will be used as a parent material in selection programs aimed to create new high performance hybrids.

Purpose. Analysis and comparative study of daylily cultivars from the collection fund of the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NBG), selection of assortment for decorative horticulture and landscaping. Methods. Cultivars from the NBG daylily collection were studied. The cultivars were evaluated in terms of their aesthetic and economic attributes, and were classified according to their coloration and the timing of their flowering. The author of the cultivar, country of origin, year of creation and introduction into the NBG were also identified. The cultivars were also grouped according to these parameters. Results. The NBG daylily collection is the result of 40 years of introduction and 20 years of breeding work with this crop at the NBG. It includes 174 world cultivars, 26 cultivars of Ukrainian breeding and more than 1000 hybrid seedlings. Most of the cultivars (79) were introduced in 2000–2009. The main part of the current structure of the daylily collection consists of cultivars bred in the 1960–1970s. Most of these are hybrids from American breeders: David F. Hall (20 cultivars) and Allen Wild (46 cultivars). A total of 15 new cultivars were developed based on the original collection. These new cultivars feature double flowers, a valuable trait for hybrids in Ukraine. For effective use in ornamental horticulture and landscaping, the cultivars were grouped according to flower colour and flowering time. The yellow­flowered group is the most widely represented. A large number of cultivars with red flowers are inherent in hybrids bred between 1980 and 1999. Cultivars from modern breeding are mostly represented by the purple and pink colour group. Most of the cultivars in the collection are early and medium early. The smallest part is made up of medium­late and late hybrids. Conclusions. The modern daylily collection is representative. The cultivars introduced into the NBG illustrate the main stages of breeding work with the crop and the achievements of breeders from different countries of the world. The collection includes early and medium early, medium, medium late and late flowering cultivars. Varying in colour and flowering time, the collection can be effectively used to extend the flowering period of daylilies by three months (from the second decade of May to the second decade of August) in ornamental gardening in Ukraine and in various landscape compositions. | Мета. Аналіз та порівняльне вивчення сортів лілійника з колекційного фонду Національного ботанічного саду імені М. М. Гришка НАН України (НБС), добір сортименту для декоративного садівництва та озеленення. Методи. Об’єктом досліджень були сорти колекції лілійника НБС. Їх аналізували за декоративними й господарськими властивостями, а також об’єднували у групи за забарвленням квітки та початком цвітіння. Групування відбувалося й за такими параметрами, як автор сорту, країна походження, рік створення та інтродукції в НБС, встановленими у процесі досліджень. Результати. Колекція лілійника НБС – це результат 40­річної інтродукційної та 20­річної селекційної роботи з цією культурою. Вона налічує 174 сорти світової та 26 української селекції й понад 1000 отриманих гібридних сіянців. Найбільше сортів (79) інтродуковано у 2000–2009 рр. Основну частку в сучасній колекційній структурі становлять представники селекції 1960–1970 рр. Більшість з них – гібриди американських селекціонерів Девіда Холла (D. F. Hall) (20 сортів) та Алена Вайлда (A. Wild) (46 сортів). На базі колекції створено 15 власних сортів зі стабільною повною квіткою, що є цінною ознакою для поширених в Україні гібридів. З метою ефективного застосування в декоративному садівництві та озелененні сорти об’єднали у групи за забарвленням квітки та початком цвітіння. Найповніше представлено групу із жовтою квіткою; її червоне забарвлення притаманне гібридам селекції 1980–1999 рр. А от сучасні сорти переважно належать до пурпурової та рожевої кольорової групи. Найбільше в колекції представників раннього та середньораннього термінів квітування; найменше – середньопізніх і пізніх гібридів. Висновки. Сучасна колекція лілійника є репрезентативною. Інтродуковані в НБС сорти ілюструють основні етапи селекційної роботи з культурою та досягнення селекціонерів різних країн світу. У колекційному фонді є представники раннього та середньораннього, середнього, середньопізнього та пізнього термінів цвітіння. Різноманітний за колірною гамою й строками квітування сортимент можна ефективно використовувати для розширення діапазону цвітіння лілійників протягом трьох місяців (з другої декади травня до другої декади серпня) у декоративному садівництві України й різних композиціях озеленення.

Abstract Draft genome sequences of five Calonectria species [including Calonectria aciculata, C. crousiana, C. fujianensis, C. honghensis and C. pseudoturangicola], Celoporthe dispersa, Sporothrix phasma and Alectoria sarmentosa are presented. Species of Calonectria are the causal agents of Eucalyptus leaf blight disease, threatening the growth and sustainability of Eucalyptus plantations in China. Celoporthe dispersa is the causal agent of stem canker in native Syzygium cordatum and exotic Tibouchina granulosa in South Africa. Sporothrix phasma was first discovered in the infructescences of Protea laurifolia and Protea neriifolia in South Africa. Alectoria sarmentosa is fruticose lichen belongs to the alectorioid clade of the family Parmeliaceae. The availability of these genome sequences will facilitate future studies on the systematics, population genetics, and genomics of these fungi.

Purpose. To evaluate the effectiveness of plot (soil) variety control to confirm purity of varieties (hybrids, lines) and authenticity of seed characteristics of soft wheat varieties at all stages of seed reproduction, as well as to ensure quality assurance of the produced seed. Methods. Analysis and synthesis, comparison method, statistical analysis, systematic approach, tabular and graphical methods. Results. The study found that plot (soil) variety control is a mandatory component of the seed certification system, which ensures confirmation of varietal purity and detection of inconsistencies at the stages of production, storage and sale. Controls for pre-basic (PBS), basic (BS) and certified (CS) seed help to ensure high quality standards. In 2020–2023, the number of control samples of soft winter wheat seed passing the plot (soil) variety control decreased. This was due to military operations, logistical disruptions and a reduction in the area under cultivation. However, despite these factors, the varieties ‘Bohdana’, ‘Mudrist Odeska’ and ‘Podolianka’ remain the leaders in the number of control samples due to their stable yields and high disease resistance. Conclusions. Plot (soil) variety control plays an important role in quality assurance and detection of inconsistencies at the stages of seed production. The decrease in the number of control samples in 2020–2023 is due to military operations, reduced crop areas and economic difficulties. At the same time, the popularity of domestic wheat varieties, such as ‘Bohdana’ and ‘Mudrist Odeska’, demonstrates their high adaptability, yield and resistance to disease pathogens. To maintain and strengthen the position of the Ukrainian seed industry, it is necessary to actively develop the domestic seed market, support breeding programmes and encourage the export of domestic seed products. | Мета. Оцінити ефективність ділянкового (ґрунтового) сортового контролю для підтвердження сортової чистоти гібридів і ліній, автентичності прояву характеристик насіння сортів пшениці м’якої на всіх етапах його розмноження, а також забезпечення якості виробленого насіння. Методи. Аналіз і синтез, порівняння, статистичний аналіз, системний підхід, табличний і графічний методи. Результати. За результатами дослідження встановлено, що обов’язковим складником системи сертифікації насіння, спрямованої на підтвердження сортової чистоти та виявлення невідповідностей на етапах виробництва, зберігання й реалізації, є ділянковий (ґрунтовий) сортовий контроль. Його проведення для насіння добазової (ДН), базової (БН) та сертифікованої (СН) категорій сприяє забезпеченню високих стандартів якості. У 2020–2023 рр. зафіксовано зменшення кількості контрольних проб насіння сортів пшениці м’якої озимої, що пройшли ділянковий (ґрунтовий) сортовий контроль. Це спричинено військовими діями, порушенням логістики та скороченням площ посівів. Однак попри ці фактори сорти ‘Богдана’, ‘Мудрість одеська’ та ‘Подолянка’ залишаються лідерами за чисельністю контрольних проб завдяки стабільній врожайності та високій стійкості проти хвороб. Висновки. Ділянковий (ґрунтовий) сортовий контроль відіграє важливу роль у забезпеченні якості та виявленні невідповідностей на етапах виробництва насіння. Зменшення кількості контрольних проб у 2020–2023 рр. зумовлено військовими діями, скороченням площ посівів та економічними труднощами. Водночас популярність таких сортів пшениці вітчизняної селекції, як ‘Богдана’ та ‘Мудрість одеська’, свідчить про їхні високу адаптивність, врожайність і стійкість проти збудників хвороб. Для збереження та зміцнення позицій українського насінництва необхідно активно розвивати внутрішній ринок, підтримувати селекційні програми та стимулювати експорт продукції вітчизняної селекції.

Мета. Здійснити комплексне вивчення та оцінювання нових середньостиглих сортів картоплі (S. tuberosum) за врожайністю, вмістом крохмалю та їхньою стабільністю в умовах Лісостепу й Полісся України. Методи. Кваліфікаційну експертизу сортів картоплі на придатність до поширення в Україні (ПСП) проводили у 2021 та 2023 рр. у восьми пунктах досліджень Українського інституту експертизи сортів рослин, розташованих в межах ґрунтово-кліматичних зон Лісостепу та Полісся. Площа облікової ділянки становила 25 м2, розміщення ділянок рендомізоване, повторність чотириразова. Результати. Проаналізовано господарсько-цінні ознаки середньостиглих сортів картоплі української – ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Марфуша’ й ‘Меланія’, а також іноземної селекції – ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ й ‘CARDYMA’. Так, середня врожайність ‘Фанатки’, ‘Світани’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ в Лісостепу виявилася на 3–12% вищою, ніж на Поліссі. Максимальні значення цього показника в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах продемонстрували сорти ‘Світана’ (Лісостеп – 28,2 т/га; Полісся – 26,0 т/га) та ‘CAMELIA’ (Лісостеп – 29,3 т/га; Полісся – 27,7 т/га). 2021 року вищу середню врожайність картоплі отримано в лісостеповій зоні (23,3 т/га); 2023-го – в поліській (21,1 т/га). Сорти ‘Фанатка’ та ‘TRIPLE7’ виявилися більш стабільними, ніж ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘CAMELIA’, ‘CARDYMA’, ‘Марфуша’ і ‘Tiger’, врожаї яких значно залежали від умов вирощування. За показниками якості найліпшими були представники іноземної селекції ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’ та ‘CARDYMA’. Вміст крохмалю в них становив 15,6–17,8% у Лісостепу та 17,1–18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – 23,9–25,8% у Лісостепу та 25,4–25,8% на Поліссі. Висновки. За результатами кваліфікаційної експертизи на ПСП сорти ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ рекомендовано для вирощування в лісостеповій і поліській зонах; ‘Марфуша’ та ‘Tiger’ – лише поліській. За якісними показниками вирізнився сорт ‘TRIPLE7’ зі вмістом крохмалю 17,8% у Лісостепу та 18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – по 25,8% в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах. | Purpose. To carry out a comprehensive study and evaluation of new medium-maturing potato (S. tuberosum) varieties for yield, starch content and stability under the conditions of the Ukrainian Forest Steppe and Polissia. Methods. The qualification examination of potato varieties for their suitability for distribution in Ukraine (VSD) was conducted in 2021 and 2023 at eight research sites of the Ukrainian Institute for Plant Variety Examination located within the soil and climatic zones of the Forest-Steppe and Polissia. The area of the accounting plot was 25 m2, the location of the plots was randomised, replicated four times. Results. The economic and valuable characteristics of Ukrainian medium-maturing potato varieties – ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Melaniia’, as well as foreign varieties – ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ were analysed. The average yield of ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ in the Forest-Steppe was 3–12% higher than in Polissia. The maximum values of this indicator in both soil and climatic zones were shown by the varieties ‘Svitana’ (Forest-Steppe – 28.2 t/ha; Polissia – 26.0 t/ha) and ‘CAMELIA’ (Forest-Steppe – 29.3 t/ha; Polissia – 27.7 t/ha). In 2021, the highest average potato yield was obtained in the Forest-Steppe zone (23.3 t/ha); in 2023, in Polissia (21.1 t/ha). ‘Fanatka’ and ‘TRIPLE7’ varieties were more stable than ‘Svitana’, ‘Melaniia’, ‘CAMELIA’, ‘CARDYMA’, ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Tiger’, whose yields were highly dependent on the growing conditions. In terms of quality indicators, the best foreign varieties were ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’ and ‘CARDYMA’. Their starch content was 15.6–17.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 17.1–18.1% in Polissia; dry matter – 23.9–25.8% in the Forest-Steppe and 25.4–25.8% in Polissia. Conclusions. According to the results of the VSD qualification test, the varieties ‘Fanatka’, ‘Svitana’, ‘Melaniia’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘CAMELIA’ and ‘CARDYMA’ are recommended for cultivation in the Forest-Steppe and Polissia zones; ‘Marfusha’ and ‘Tiger’ are recommended for Polissia only. According to qualitative indicators, the variety ‘TRIPLE7’ stood out with starch content of 17.8% in Forest-Steppe and 18.1% in Polissia; dry matter – 25.8% in both soil and climatic zones.

Мета. Здійснити комплексне вивчення та оцінювання нових середньостиглих сортів картоплі (S. tuberosum) за врожайністю, вмістом крохмалю та їхньою стабільністю в умовах Лісостепу й Полісся України. Методи. Кваліфікаційну експертизу сортів картоплі на придатність до поширення в Україні (ПСП) проводили у 2021 та 2023 рр. у восьми пунктах досліджень Українського інституту експертизи сортів рослин, розташованих в межах ґрунтово-кліматичних зон Лісостепу та Полісся. Площа облікової ділянки становила 25 м2, розміщення ділянок рендомізоване, повторність чотириразова. Результати. Проаналізовано господарсько-цінні ознаки середньостиглих сортів картоплі української – ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Марфуша’ й ‘Меланія’, а також іноземної селекції – ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ й ‘CARDYMA’. Так, середня врожайність ‘Фанатки’, ‘Світани’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ в Лісостепу виявилася на 3–12% вищою, ніж на Поліссі. Максимальні значення цього показника в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах продемонстрували сорти ‘Світана’ (Лісостеп – 28,2 т/га; Полісся – 26,0 т/га) та ‘CAMELIA’ (Лісостеп – 29,3 т/га; Полісся – 27,7 т/га). 2021 року вищу середню врожайність картоплі отримано в лісостеповій зоні (23,3 т/га); 2023-го – в поліській (21,1 т/га). Сорти ‘Фанатка’ та ‘TRIPLE7’ виявилися більш стабільними, ніж ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘CAMELIA’, ‘CARDYMA’, ‘Марфуша’ і ‘Tiger’, врожаї яких значно залежали від умов вирощування. За показниками якості найліпшими були представники іноземної селекції ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘Tiger’ та ‘CARDYMA’. Вміст крохмалю в них становив 15,6–17,8% у Лісостепу та 17,1–18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – 23,9–25,8% у Лісостепу та 25,4–25,8% на Поліссі. Висновки. За результатами кваліфікаційної експертизи на ПСП сорти ‘Фанатка’, ‘Світана’, ‘Меланія’, ‘TRIPLE7’, ‘CAMELIA’ та ‘CARDYMA’ рекомендовано для вирощування в лісостеповій і поліській зонах; ‘Марфуша’ та ‘Tiger’ – лише поліській. За якісними показниками вирізнився сорт ‘TRIPLE7’ зі вмістом крохмалю 17,8% у Лісостепу та 18,1% на Поліссі; сухої речовини – по 25,8% в обох ґрунтово-кліматичних зонах.

To determine the manifestation of a complex of sea buckthorn (Hipporhae rhamnoides L.) varieties characteristics using cluster analysis for grouping of identifying morphological, qualitative and quantitative economic and valuable characteristics during the test of difference. Methods. Analytical (analysis of the variety database), comparative evaluation of morphological and economically valuable characteristics, mathematical, statistical [using the SPSS package (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)] Data Mining tools. Results. The frequency analysis of morphological characters of the collection of H. rhamnoides varieties was carried out. The latter were grouped by means of hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis using variables such as plant life form, branch position and number of shoot spines. Six clusters were identified from the results. The best sea buckthorn varieties in terms of economic value were also identified in terms of maturity groups. Conclusions. The use of cluster analysis to group known varieties of the sea buckthorn collection by morphological and economic characteristics allows to quickly and accurately establish the code of the characteristics (QL – qualitative, QN – quantitative, PQ – pseudo-qualitative) and their difference. According to the results of the comparison, the highest yields were found in the variety ‘Orange Revolution’; vitamin C content – ‘Dora’, carotene – ‘Morkviana’, vitamin P – ‘Tatiana’, ‘Lasunka’, ‘Eva’ and ‘Marija Bruvele’.

У процесі досліджень послуговувалися методами спостережень, аналізу, порівняння, узагальнення даних, фотофіксації, а також описово­таксаційним. Результати. To determine the structure, and color of the leaf, the bark of the branches, the habit of the crown, the linear characteristics of the plants, the features of flowering and fruiting of Liquidambar styraciflua L. and its cultivars. Provide recommendations for their use in landscaping. Methods. The subjects of the research were cultivars of L. styraciflua, which were found in arboretums, parks, squares, garden centers, nurseries and in green areas throughout Ukraine. The plants were evaluated according to a complex scale of ornamental value of woody plants, which includes four levels of ornamental value of trees and shrubs: very high, high, medium and low. The methods of observation, analysis, comparison, data summarization, photo­fixation and descriptive­taxation method were used. Results. A comprehensive assessment of the decorative effect of L. styraciflua cultivars (‘Worplesdon’, ‘Gum Ball’, ‘Rotundiloba’, ‘Albomarginata Manon’, ‘Oakville Highlight’, ‘Slender Silhouette’, ‘Fastigiatа’, ‘Pasquali’, ‘Stared’, ‘Thea’, ‘Aurea’, ‘Golden Treasure’, ‘Variegata’, ‘Golden Sun’, ‘Stella’, ‘Stella Rossa’) against species plants was carried out. Based on the results of the research, a table was compiled to help landscape architects, nursery and garden center workers, botanists and ecologists, students and staff of forestry and botanical institutions in the selection of plants. Recommendations are given for the use of L. styraciflua cultivars in landscaping. Conclusions. According to the degree of ornamentality, the vast majo­rity of L. styraciflua cultivars (13) belong to group I (very high, 65–90 points). They are recommended for use in urban and domestic landscaping and for the creation of various landscape objects. Group II (high ornamental value, 51–64 points) contains two cultivars, and group III (moderate ornamental value, 41–50 points) contains only one cultivar.

Мета. Дослідити формування продуктивності сорту сої культурної ‘Говерла’ за використання різних елементів технології вирощування. Методи. Польові, лабораторні, статистичні (розрахунково­порівняльний, математично­статистичний). Результати. Встановлено ефективність весняного чизелювання за вирощування сої культурної сорту ‘Говерла’ в ґрунтово­кліматичних умовах Прикарпаття. Відзначено позитивний вплив досліджуваних способів обробітку ґрунту на фітосанітарний стан посівів. Зокрема, поєднання зяблевої оранки з весняним чизелюванням за внесення мінеральних добрив N30P30K30 та дворазового позакореневого обприскування посівів регулятором росту зумовило підвищення конкурентоздатності рослин проти бур’янів та знизило чисельність останніх на 46,2%, як порівняти з контролем. Виконання вищевказаних дій також сприяло збільшенню врожайності до 2,48 т/га, або на 57,0%, у середньому за три роки. Водночас зріс вихід кормових одиниць та перетравного протеїну – на 1,35 і 0,3 т/га відповідно. Висновки. Весняне чизелювання разом із зяблевою оранкою та раціональним поєднанням у системі удобрення побічної продукції попередника, запропонованих доз мінеральних добрив і регулятора росту в умовах Прикарпаття сприяли зниженню забур’яненості посівів на 46,2% та підвищенню врожайності сорту сої культурної ‘Говерла’ на 57,0%.

Purpose. Analysis and comparative study of daylily cultivars from the collection fund of the M. M. Gryshko National Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NBG), selection of assortment for decorative horticulture and landscaping. Methods. Cultivars from the NBG daylily collection were studied. The cultivars were evaluated in terms of their aesthetic and economic attributes, and were classified according to their coloration and the timing of their flowering. The author of the cultivar, country of origin, year of creation and introduction into the NBG were also identified. The cultivars were also grouped according to these parameters. Results. The NBG daylily collection is the result of 40 years of introduction and 20 years of breeding work with this crop at the NBG. It includes 174 world cultivars, 26 cultivars of Ukrainian breeding and more than 1000 hybrid seedlings. Most of the cultivars (79) were introduced in 2000–2009. The main part of the current structure of the daylily collection consists of cultivars bred in the 1960–1970s. Most of these are hybrids from American breeders: David F. Hall (20 cultivars) and Allen Wild (46 cultivars). A total of 15 new cultivars were developed based on the original collection. These new cultivars feature double flowers, a valuable trait for hybrids in Ukraine. For effective use in ornamental horticulture and landscaping, the cultivars were grouped according to flower colour and flowering time. The yellow­flowered group is the most widely represented. A large number of cultivars with red flowers are inherent in hybrids bred between 1980 and 1999. Cultivars from modern breeding are mostly represented by the purple and pink colour group. Most of the cultivars in the collection are early and medium early. The smallest part is made up of medium­late and late hybrids. Conclusions. The modern daylily collection is representative. The cultivars introduced into the NBG illustrate the main stages of breeding work with the crop and the achievements of breeders from different countries of the world. The collection includes early and medium early, medium, medium late and late flowering cultivars. Varying in colour and flowering time, the collection can be effectively used to extend the flowering period of daylilies by three months (from the second decade of May to the second decade of August) in ornamental gardening in Ukraine and in various landscape compositions.

Annulatascus nilensis sp. nov., from freshwater habitats in Egypt, is described, illustrated and compared to other species in the genus. Phylogenetic analyses of its LSU rDNA sequence with similar fungi placed the new species in the genus Annulatascus (Annulatascaceae, Sordariomycetidae incertae sedis). Annulatascus nilensis is characterized by immersed ascomata with an ascomatal neck oriented horizontally to the substrate surface, asci with a long, narrow stalk and massive bipartite apical ring, and 5-11-septate, hyaline ascospores surrounded by a large irregular, granular sheath that is not seen in water.
