Purpose. To determine and substantiate practical aspects of statistical analysis application for management results of the morphological description of cutting lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.) varieties when identifying them during corresponding phenological phases of growth and development. Methods. Field study, analytical approach based on descriptive statistics and cluster analysis. Results. Quantitative values of display of such morphological characters as leaf rosette diameter, lettuce head size, leaf blade thickness and its venation were determined for the Lactuca sativa L. varieties. Statistical indices of four morphological characters of randomized sampling frame of seven cutting lettuce varieties were determined and the results of statistical analysis were interpreted. Cutting lettuce of loose leaf and capitate varieties was identified during corresponding phenological phases of growth and development. The most suitable method for clustering cutting lettuce varieties was defined. The results of clustering were interpreted. It was found that ‘Hodar’ variety differed greatly from others, ‘Dumka’ and ‘Olzhych’ varieties were the most similar. Conclusions. The results of the identification allowed to establish that capitate lettuce varieties were similar in the following combinations: ‘Bona’ and ‘Dyvohray’, ‘Olzhych’ and ‘Dumka’. According to the duration of interphase periods, it can be noted that such varieties as ‘Dumka’ and ‘Dyvohrai’ had the highest rate of maturation in comparison with ‘Bona’ and ‘Hodar’ varieties, and the lowest one as compared to the ‘Olzhych’ variety

Purpose. To reveal breeding and genetic peculiarities of modern spring barley varieties for the “number of grains per main ear” trait and identify genetic sources of increased combining ability for involving in hybridization. Methods. Investigations were carried out at the V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat of NAAS of Ukraine. Modern varieties of domestic (‘Virazh’, ‘Talisman Myronivskyi’, ‘Komandor’) and foreign (‘KWS Aliciana’, ‘KWS Bambina’, ‘Zhana’, ‘Explorer’) breeding were involved in crossing for a full (7´7) diallel scheme. Parents and F1 were studied in field conditions during 2014–2016. Results. The analysis of variance of combining ability has shown a significant advantage in varying of general combining ability (GCA) effects. The mean square of specific combining ability (SCA) was significantly less than the GCA, but reliable throughout the years. The reciprocal effect was reliable only in 2014. Stably high effects of GCA during all years of investigations were noted in the varieties ‘KWS Aliciana’ (1.18–1.62) and ‘Virazh’ (1.33–1.48). The variety ‘KWS Bambina’ was characterized by lower but reliable positive effects of GCA (0.43–0.99) as compared to mentioned above. Non-allelic gene interaction was not found, that allowed to calculate the basic parameters of genetic variation. During all years of investigations, dominant effects of genes (H1 and H2) prevailed over the additive (D) ones in phenotypic expression of grain number per main ear. Mean degree of dominance in the experiment (H1/D) has shown overdominance. The same pattern was also distinctive for the index of mean degree of dominance in the loci . The dominance was reliably directed. Dominant effects of genes increased grain content, and recessive ones reduced it. At least 3–4 genes (groups of genes) have been revealed which determined the effects of dominance. At the same time, recessive genes (F<0) or gene effects were prevailed quantitatively in the varieties investigated. A high coefficient of heritability in broad sense (H2 = 0.98) has shown a significant determination of phenotypic variability with genetic factors. The coefficient of heritability in narrow sense (h2 = 0.66–0.68) confirmed that despite the advantage of dominant effects over the additive ones, the contribution of the latter was also significant. Conclusions. The prevalence of dominant effects of genes in the phenotypic expression of the number of grains per main ear causes the need for sufficient sample size of hybrid material and points to the expediency of conducting a more “rigid” selection for phenotype in later generations. At the same time, the considerable contribution of additive effects and high values of heritability indices give reason to predict the efficiency of selections aimed at increasing the trait in created hybrid material. The varieties ‘Virazh’, ‘KWS Aliciana’, ‘KWS Bambina’ should be used as effective genetic sources to increase grain content in combination breeding.

Purpose. To develop a method of propagation, stimulation of rhizomes growth in vitro culture for the genus Miscanthus representatives and their adaptation in the open field without the use of greenhouse complexes for acclimatization and completion of growing. Methods. Biotechnological procedures, mathematical and statistical analyses. Results. Prescription of nutrient medium was developed for explants inoculation, sprouts propagation, rhizomes growth stimulation in vitro. Such sterile explants as seeds, buds to be removed from rhizomes, parts of stems with bud were placed on modified media with mineral portion by Murashige and Skoog (MS) that contained 0,5–1 dose of macroelements and one dose of microelements, vitamins (10 mg/l of thiaminum, 1,0 mg/l of pyridoxine, 1,0 mg/l of nicotinic acid and 1,0 mg/l of ascorbic acid) supplemented with amino acids (250 mg/l of glutamic acid, 3 mg/l of tyrosine, 3 mg/l of arginine, 2 mg/l of hydroxyproline), plant growth regulators [0,5–1,0 mg/l of GA (gibberelline acid), 0,2 mg/l of 6-BAP (6-Benzylaminopurine, 0,1 mg/l of NAA (α-naphtylacetic acid)] in different variations. After seed germination, buds emerging and sprouts formation 1–2 cm in height, for propagation purpose they were passivated on the medium of other composition that differed from previous one by the content and ratio of growth regulators, especially by a high concentration of cytokinins [6-BAP (0,4–0,5 mg/l), kinetin (0,5 mg/l), adenine (0,5 mg/k)] in different variations in presence of GA (0,2 mg/l). In order to stimulate rhizomes growth, microclones were transferred on media with other composition and ratio growth regulators (6-BAP (0,2–0,3 mg/l) + GA (0,5–1,0 mg/l) or 6-BAP (0,2–0,3 mg/l) + GA (0,5–1,0 mg/l) + NAA (0,1 mg/l), in other words, with a high content of gibberellins. After the formation of rhizomes 10–15 cm in length, miscanthus plants were planted out in the open ground. Stimulation of rhizomes initiation and elongation on appropriate nutrient media before Miscanthus giganteus, M. sacchariflorus and M. sinensis planting in vivo resulted in 100% adaptation and 100% survival of plants in the winter period without the use of greenhouse complexes. Conclusions. The method of miscanthus propagation in vitro and adaptation in the open ground was developed that included stimulation of rhizomes growth and favoured the increase of their length on media supplemented with gibberelline that guaranteed 100% preservation of microplants to be propagated from in vitro culture during adaptation in the open ground and acclimatization in winter.

Purpose. To investigate the varietal characteristics of the hemp plants for improving the quality indices of the soil they grow in, determine the amount of inorganic elements in the soil, level of their accumulation in plant stalkі and seeds. Methods. Field and spectrometric methods were basic. The results were processed using conventional methods in agriculture, crop growing and statistics. Variants of the experiment were as follows: varieties ‘Hliana’, ‘Hlesiia’: 1) soils; 2) stalks; 3) seeds. Schemes of experiments included: a) technical maturity of plants, row spacing 45 cm; b) technical maturity of plants, row spacing 15 cm; c) biological maturity of plants, row spacing 45 cm; d) biological maturity of plants, row spacing 15 cm. Results. The amount of the accumulation of alkaline earth metals and their compounds by seeds and stalks of hemp plants depending on their content in vegetation soils was determined. It was found that stalks of the ‘Hlesiia’ plant accumulated strontium (Sr) and its compounds far less than that of ‘Hliana’, whereas in the seeds of the ‘Hlesiia’ variety the content of this chemical element was higher comparing with the previous variety by 70 and 78%, respectively. The difference in the accumulation of barium (Ba) compounds in seeds of hemp plants was not significant, while the tissues of the plant stalks of the ‘Hliana’ variety accumulated its compounds significantly more as compared to the ‘Hlesiia’ variety. The degree of influence of the variety, feeding area and the maturity stage on the processes of magnesium compounds (Mg) accumulation by plants was not revealed. Plants of the ‘Hlesiia’ variety accumulated far less calcium (Ca) and its compounds in the stalk tissues as compared to the plants of the ‘Hliana’ variety: in variants of the technical maturity stage of plants with row spacing 45 cm (a) and d – plants of narrow-row sowing (15 cm) in the biological maturity stage 30,94 and 15,95 mg/kg more in the presence in soil and in variants of the technical maturity stage of plants of narrow-row sowing (15 cm) and in the biological maturity stage with broad-sowing (45 cm) 34.54 and 24.19 mg/kg less in the presence in soil. Conclusions. The indices of accumulation of alkaline earth metals by hemp plants were significantly affected by the concentration of compounds of a certain chemical element in the arable layer, the level of energy (light) obtained by plants during vegetation, the varietal features of hemp, the stages of organogenesis of hemp plants and the specificity of their aboveground parts – stalks to accumulate these chemical elements as well as cumulate them by seeds. The varietal dependence as for accumulation of heavy metals by hemp plants tissues and seeds was established. In order to obtain environmentally friendly products, it is necessary to take into account the varietal features of plants concerning the ability to absorb and accumulate the relevant chemical elements and their compounds in the process of hemp cultivation.

Цель. Исследовать сортовые особенности растений конопли посевной с целью улучшения качественных показателей почвы, на которой они произрастают, определить содержание неорганических элементов в почве, уровень их накопления в стеблях растений и семенах. Методы. Основные – полевой и спектрометрический. Результаты обрабатывали по общепринятым методикам в земледелии, растениеводстве и статистике. Варианты опыта – сорта ‘Гляна’, ‘Глесия’: 1) почва; 2) стебли; 3) семена. Схемы опытов: а) техническая спелость растений, междурядья 45 см; б) техническая спелость растений, междурядья 15 см; в) биологическая спелость растений, междурядья 45 см; г) биологическая спелость растений, междурядья 15 см. Результаты. Определены величины аккумуляции щёлочноземельных металлов и их соединений семенами и стеблями конопли посевной в зависимости от содержания их в почвах на протяжении вегетации. Выявлено, что стебли растений сорта ‘Глесия’ накапливали стронция (Sr) и его соединений значительно меньше по сравнению с растениями сорта ‘Гляна’, а в семенах сорта ‘Глесия’ содержание этого химического элемента превышало содержание в семенах предыдущего сорта на 70 и 78% соответственно. Разность в накоплении соединений бария (Ва) семенами конопли посевной между сортами была не существенной, тогда как ткани стеблей растений сорта ‘Гляна’ накапливали его соединений значительно больше по сравнению с сортом ‘Глесия’. Исследованиями не выявлено влияния доли сорта, площади питания и фазы созревания на процессы аккумуляции растениями соединений магния (Mg). Сорт ‘Глесия’ накапливал в тканях стеблей гораздо меньше кальция (Са) и его соединений по сравнению с растениями сорта ‘Гляна’: в вариантах в фазе технической спелости растений в посевах с междурядьями 45 см (а) и г – растения узкорядных посевов (15 см) в фазе биологической спелости – на 30,94 и 15,95 мг/кг больше при наличии в почве и в вариантах в фазе технической спелости растений с узкорядным посевом (15 см) и в фазе биологической спелости с широкорядным посевом (45 см) – меньше на 34,54 и 24,19 мг/кг.Выводы. На показатели аккумуляции щёлочноземельных металлов растениями конопли посевной существенно повлияли: концентрация соединений определенного химического элемента в пахотном слое почвы, уровень энергетического (светового) обеспечения растений в процессе вегетации, сортовые особенности конопли посевной, этапы органогенеза растений, специфические особенности наземной части – стеблей – накапливать эти химические элементы, а также семенами. Выявлена сортовая зависимость накопления тяжелых металлов тканями растений и семенами конопли посевной. Для получения экологически чистой продукции необходимо учитывать сортовые особенности растений поглощать и аккумулировать соответствующие химические элементы и их соединения при выращивании культуры. | Мета. Дослідити сортові особливості рослин конопель посівних з метою поліпшення якісних показників ґрунтів, на яких вони ростуть, визначити вміст неорганічних елементів у ґрунті, рівень їх накопичення у стеблах рослин і насінні.Методи. Основні – польовий і спектрометричний. Результати опрацьовували за загальноприйнятими методиками у землеробстві, рослинництві та статистиці. Варіанти досліду – сорти ‘Гляна’, ‘Глесія’: 1) ґрунт; 2) стебла; 3) насіння. Схеми дослідів: а) технічна стиглість рослин, міжряддя 45 см; б) технічна стиглість рослин, міжряддя 15 см; в) біологічна стиглість рослин, міжряддя 45 см; г) біологічна стиглість рослин, міжряддя 15 см.Результати. Визначено величину акумуляції лужноземельних металів та їхніх сполук насінням і стеблами рослин конопель посівних залежно від їх вмісту в ґрунтах. Виявлено, що стебла рослин сорту ‘Глесія’ накопичували стронцію (Sr) та його сполук значно менше порівняно з рослинами сорту ‘Гляна’, а в насінні сорту ‘Глесія’ вміст цього хімічного елемента був вищим порівняно з попереднім сортом на 70 і 78% відповідно. Різниця в накопиченні сполук барію (Ва) в насінні сортів конопель посівних була неістотною, тоді як тканини стебел рослин сорту ‘Гляна’ накопичували його сполук значно більше порівняно з сортом ‘Глесія’. Дослідженнями не виявлено впливу частки сорту, площі живлення та фази достигання на процеси акумуляції рослинами сполук магнію (Mg). Сорт ‘Глесія’ накопичував у тканинах стебел рослин відчутно менше кальцію (Са) та його сполук порівняно з рослинами сорту ‘Гляна’: у варіантах фази технічної стиглості рослин у посівах з міжряддями 45 см (а) і г – рослини вузькорядного висіву (15 см) у фазі біологічної стиглості на 30,94 і 15,95 мг/кг більше за наявності у ґрунті та у варіантах фази технічної стиглості рослин вузькорядного висіву (15 см) і у фазі біологічної стиглості з широкорядним висівом (45 см) – на 34,54 і 24,19 мг/кг менше за наявності в ґрунті.Висновки. На показники акумуляції лужноземельних металів рослинами конопель посівних істотно вплинули: концентрація сполук певного хімічного елемента в орному шарі ґрунту, рівень енергетичного (світлового) забезпечення рослин у процесі вегетації, сортові особливості конопель посівних, етапи органогенезу рослин і специфічні особливості їх наземної частини – стебел – накопичувати ці хімічні елементи, а також насінням. Встановлено сортову залежність щодо накопичення важких металів тканинами рослин і насінням конопель посівних. Для отримання екологічно чистої продукції необхідно враховувати сортові особливості рослин щодо здатності поглинати й акумулювати відповідні хімічні елементи та їхні сполуки під час вирощування культури. | Purpose. The difference in the accumulation of barium (Ba) compounds in seeds of hemp plants was not significant, while the tissues of the plant stalks of the ‘Hliana’ variety accumulated its compounds significantly more as compared to the ‘Hlesiia’ variety. The degree of influence of the variety, feeding area and the maturity stage on the processes of magnesium compounds (Mg) accumulation by plants was not revealed. Plants of the ‘Hlesiia’ variety accumulated far less calcium (Ca) and its compounds in the stalk tissues as compared to the plants of the ‘Hliana’ variety: in variants of the technical maturity stage of plants with row spacing 45 cm (a) and d – plants of narrow-row sowing (15 cm) in the biological maturity stage 30,94 and 15,95 mg/kg more in the presence in soil and in variants of the technical maturity stage of plants of narrow-row sowing (15 cm) and in the biological maturity stage with broad-sowing (45 cm) 34.54 and 24.19 mg/kg less in the presence in soil.Conclusions. The indices of accumulation of alkaline earth metals by hemp plants were significantly affected by the concentration of compounds of a certain chemical element in the arable layer, the level of energy (light) obtained by plants during vegetation, the varietal features of hemp, the stages of organogenesis of hemp plants and the specificity of their aboveground parts – stalks to accumulate these chemical elements as well as cumulate them by seeds. The varietal dependence as for accumulation of heavy metals by hemp plants tissues and seeds was established. In order to obtain environmentally friendly products, it is necessary to take into account the varietal features of plants concerning the ability to absorb and accumulate the relevant chemical elements and their compounds in the process of hemp cultivation.

Purpose. To investigate the varietal characteristics of the hemp plants for improving the quality indices of the soil they grow in, determine the amount of inorganic elements in the soil, level of their accumulation in plant stalkі and seeds. Methods. Field and spectrometric methods were basic. The results were processed using conventional methods in agriculture, crop growing and statistics. Variants of the experiment were as follows: varieties ‘Hliana’, ‘Hlesiia’: 1) soils; 2) stalks; 3) seeds. Schemes of experiments included: a) technical maturity of plants, row spacing 45 cm; b) technical maturity of plants, row spacing 15 cm; c) biological maturity of plants, row spacing 45 cm; d) biological maturity of plants, row spacing 15 cm. Results. The amount of the accumulation of alkaline earth metals and their compounds by seeds and stalks of hemp plants depending on their content in vegetation soils was determined. It was found that stalks of the ‘Hlesiia’ plant accumulated strontium (Sr) and its compounds far less than that of ‘Hliana’, whereas in the seeds of the ‘Hlesiia’ variety the content of this chemical element was higher comparing with the previous variety by 70 and 78%, respectively. Purpose. To conduct in vitro screening of different genotypes of winter triticale for resistance to salinity in the shoot apical meristem culture. Methods. Plant tissue culture in vitro, in vitro breeding, statistical analysis. Results. It was found that the increase of sodium chloride concentration from 0.6 to 1.5% resulted in inhibition of the callus culture growth in all genotypes that was indicative of the toxic effect of the stress factor. It turns out that 1.2% sodium chloride concentration allowed to differentiate triticale genotypes for salt tolerance. The line ‘38/1296’ appeared to be the most resistant to salinity stress because under breeding conditions calli of this genotype were characterized by higher morphogenetic potential, had the highest crude mass increase, and plants-regenerants were obtained only from explants of this line after cultivation on the medium containing 1.5% sodium chloride. The ‘ADM 11’ variety was the most sensitive to saline stress as mass necrosis and lack of regenerative ability in its calli were observed under breeding conditions. In the studied forms, genotypic dependence of morphogenesis processes in vitro culture was registered. From the induced calli, plants-regenerants were obtained, and their completion of growing, root development and transfer to in vivo conditions were optimized. Conclusions. Genotypic response to salinity stress in the culture of shoot apical meristems of winter triticale was expressed by various crude mass increase and different morphogenetic potential on exposure to a stress factor. The line ‘38/1296’ can be used as a valuable material for further breeding of winter triticale. The culture of shoot apical meristems is recommended to apply as a test system for screening of triticale genotypes for resistance to salinity stress

To define statistical methods and tools (application packages) for creating the decision support system (DSS) for qualifying examination of plant varieties suitable for dissemination (VSD) in the context of data processing tasks. To substantiate the selection of software for processing statistical data relative to field and laboratory investigations that are included into the qualifying examination for VSD. Methods. Analytical one based on the comparison of methods of descriptive and multivariate statistics and tools of intellectual analysis of data obtained during qualifying examination for VSD. Comparative analysis of software tools for processing statistical data in order to prepare proposals for the final decision on plant variety application. Decomposition of tasks was carried out which were included into the decision support system for qualifying examination of varieties-candidates for VSD. Results. Statistical package SPSS, analysis package included in MS Excel and programe language R was compared for the following criteria: interface usability, functionality, quality of calculation result presentation, visibility of graphical information, software cost. The both packages were widely used in the world for statistical data processing, they have similar functions for statistics calculation. Conclusion. Tasks of VSD were separated and recommended to tackle using investigated tools. Programe language R was a product recommended to use as a tool. The main advantage of R as compared to the package IBM SPSS Statistics is the fact that R is an open source software.

Мета.Визначити статистичні методи та інструментальні засоби (пакети прикладних програм) для створення системи підтримки прийняття рішення (СППР) кваліфікаційної експертизи сортів рослин на придатність до поширення (ПСП) у розрізі завдань оброблення даних. Обґрунтувати вибір програмних засобів оброблення статистичних даних польових та лабораторних досліджень, що входять до складу кваліфікаційної експертизи на ПСП. Методи. Аналітичний, який ґрунтується на порівнянні методів описової та багатовимірної статистики й засобів інтелектуального аналізу даних, отриманих під час кваліфікаційної експертизи на ПСП. Порівняльний аналіз програмних засобів оброблення статистичних даних для підготовки пропозицій щодо кінцевого рішення за заявкою на сорт рослин.Результати. Проведено декомпозицію завдань, що входять до складу системи підтримки прийняття рішень з кваліфікаційної експертизи сортів-кандидатів на ПСП. Проведено порівняння статистичного пакета SPSS, пакета аналізу, що входить до складу MS Excel, та мови програмування R за критеріями: зручність інтерфейсу, функціональність, якість представлення результатів обчислення, наочність графічної інформації, вартість програмного засобу. Обидва пакети широко застосовують у світі для статистичного оброблення даних, вони мають аналогічний склад функцій для обчислення статистик. Висновки. Виокремлено завдання ПСП, що рекомендовано вирішувати із застосуванням досліджуваних засобів. Як інструментальний засіб рекомендовано використовувати мову програмування R. Основною перевагою R порівняно з пакетом IBM SPSS Statistics є те, що R є програмним продуктом з відкритим кодом, який вільно поширюється. | Цель. Purpose. To study biological characteristics of growth and development of middle-early soybean varieties and create a model of phenotype productivity. Methods. Special and general techniques for studies. Results. Optimal productivity of plants is forming merely at the expense of efficient ratio of all the elements of their structure. It often happens that in case of underdevelopment of one of the structure components yield to some extent can be offset by better development of other elements. Eight indicators were defined which make the largest contribution to the productivity trait of a variety: seed weight per plant, total number of branches, number of nodes per plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, number of flowers, plant height, 1000 kernel weight. The first four indicators provided most of the total contribution to a trait of seed weight per plant. Model building was based on hierarchy of productivity traits display in ontogenesis and compliance of their development in organogenesis. The model consists of two modules of traits – resulting and some componental showing phenotypic realization of the genetic formula. It was found that the plant height significantly influence the number of nodes per plant (r = 0,76), and the number of pods per plant (r = 0,43) depends on this trait. In addition, correlation based on the research was obtained between the number of flowers per plant and plant height (r = 0,35), and number of nodes (r = 0,76). It was established that the number of flowers per plant determines the development of pods on the plant so it is quite strongly correlated with this trait (r = 0,99). Conclusions. It was determined that the number of pods per plant and the number of seeds per plant have a very strong correlation (r = 0,96). Besides, such trait as the number of seeds per plant has a strong relationship with the seed weight per plant (r = 0,79).

Наведено результати досліджень для визначення оптимальних строків проведення збиральних робіт у розсадниках первинного насінництва. Дослідження проводили окремо для насіння з центральної і бічних китиць, зібраного в різні фази стиглості. Встановлено, що енергія проростання насіння першого строку збирання була мінімальною і становила по сортах для центральної китиці від 70,0 до 73,0% і від 58,0 до 65,0% – для бічних китиць. Найкращі показники енергії проростання і схожості виявлено у насіння центральних китиць, зібраного у фазу «жовті сім’ядолі». Вони становили в середньому по всіх сортах 90,8 і 94,3% відповідно, тоді як у насіння бічних китиць ці показники були на рівні 84,5 і 89,3%. На формування маси 1000 насінин впливали агрометеорологічні умови. В посушливі роки на рослинах сформувалося щупле й легковаге насіння, тому погіршилась його посівна якість. Найбільшу масу 1000 насінин отримано у фазі «повна стиглість», коли вона досягала у центральної китиці від 284 до 338 г, а в бічних – від 266 до 316 г. Проведено оцінку розвитку зародкових корінців: зовнішній вигляд, довжина. Візуальна оцінка насіння на третю добу пророщування та вимірювання довжини зародкових корінчиків на сьому добу свідчить, що здорові, добре розвинені проростки спостерігалися в насіння п’ятого і шостого строків збирання. Висновки. Найвищі посівні якості у більшості сортів з урахуванням бічних китиць встановлено в насіння, зібраного у фазу і повної стиглості. Насіння центральної китиці за схожістю відповідає вимогам ДСТУ для добазової категорії (87,0%), починаючи вже з фази «початок пожовтіння корінчика зародка», але насіння бічних китиць – не раніше фази «жовті сім’ядолі». Збиральні роботи необхідно розпочинати у фазі стиглості насіння люпину «жовті сім’ядолі», коли воно є повноцінно сформованим і має високі посівні якості.

To determine the optimal time for harvesting in nurseries of primary seed production of white lupine. Methods. Field, laboratory and statistical methods of material evaluation were used. Sowing qualities were studied in the laboratory separately for seeds from the central and lateral racemes in accordance with DSTU 2240-93 (State Standard of Ukraine).Results. The results of studies on determination of optimal terms for harvesting in nurseries of primary seed production are given. The studies were conducted separately for seeds from the central and lateral racemes collected in different ripe stages. It was established that the seed vigor during the first harvesting time was minimal and ranging for varieties from 70.0 to 73.0% for the central raceme and from 58.0 to 65.0% for the lateral racemes. The best indices of seed vigor and germination capacity were established in the seeds of the central racemes harvested during the “yellow cotyledon” stage. They averaged 90.8 and 94.3% respectively for all varieties, while in the seeds of the lateral racemes these indices amounted to 84.5 and 89.3%. Agrometeorological conditions had influence on the thousand-kernel weight formation. In dry years, plants produced feeble and lightweight seeds, so their sowing qualities has been deteriorated. The highest thousand-kernel weight was obtained in the “full ripeness” stage, when it ranging from 284 to 338 g in the central racemes and from 266 to 316 in the lateral ones. The development of embryonic roots including external appearance, length was assessed. Visual assessment of germination on the third day and measurement of the length of embryonic roots on the seventh day showed that healthy, well-developed seedlings were observed in seeds of the fifth and sixth harvesting periods. Conclusions. The highest sowing qualities in most varieties with regard to lateral racemes were established in the seeds harvested in the «full ripeness» phase. For the germinating capacity, seeds of the central raceme met the requirements of DSTU for the additional category (87.0%), starting from the stage “beginning of the embryonic root yellowing”, but seeds of the lateral racemes not earlier than the phase of “yellow cotyledons”. Harvesting should be started at the “yellow cotyledons” phase of lupine seeds maturity when they were fully formed and have high sowing qualities. | Цель. Установить оптимальные сроки проведения уборочных работ в питомниках первичного семеноводства люпина белого.Методы. Использованы полевые, лабораторные и статистические методы оценки материала. Посевные качества изучали в лабораторных условиях отдельно для семян с центральных и боковых кистей в соответствии с ГСТУ 2240-93. Результаты. Приведены результаты исследований для определения оптимальных сроков проведения уборочных работ в питомниках первичного семеноводства. Исследования проводили отдельно для семян из центральной и боковых кистей, собранных в разные фазы зрелости. Установлено, что энергия прорастания семян первого срока уборки была минимальной и составляла по сортам для центральной кисти от 70,0 до 73,0% и от 58,0 до 65,0% – для боковых кистей. Лучшие показатели энергии прорастания и всхожести выявлены у семян центральных кистей, собранных в фазе «желтые семядоли». Они составляли в среднем по всем сортам соответственно 90,8 и 94,3%, в то время как у семян боковых кистей данные показатели были на уровне 84,5 и 89,3%. На формирование массы 1000 семян влияли агрометеорологические условия. В засушливые годы на растениях сформировались щуплые и легковесные семена, поэтому ухудшились их посевные качества. Наибольшая масса 1000 семян получена в фазе «полная спелость», когда она достигала у центральной кисти от 284 до 338 г, а в боковых – от 266 до 316 г. Проведена оценка развития зародышевых корешков: внешний вид, длина. Визуальная оценка семян на третий день проращивания и измерение длины зародышевых корешков на седьмой день показали, что здоровые, хорошо развитые проростки наблюдаются у семян пятого и шестого сроков уборки.Выводы. Наиболее высокие посевные качества у большинства сортов с учетом боковых кистей установлены в семенах, собранных в фазе полной спелости. Семена центральной кисти по всхожести соответствуют требованиям ГСТУ для добазовой категории (87,0%), начиная уже с фазы «начало пожелтения корешков зародыша», но семена с боковых кистей – не ранее фазы «желтые семядоли». Уборочные работы следует начинать в фазе спелости семян люпина «желтые семядоли», когда они полноценно сформированы и имеют высокие посевные качества.

Purpose. To study the effect of weather conditions on grain quality in soft spring wheat lines that are undergoing competitive variety trial. To identify indices to be least affected by weather conditions. To investigate the correlation dependence between grain quality indices in the years with contrasting weather conditions and conduct the analysis of variance. Methods. Parameters of grain and flour quality of bread spring wheat lines were determined using conventional methods at the laboratory of grain quality of V. M. Remeslo Myronivka Institute of Wheat, NAAS of Ukraine, protein content in flour was measured with the use of the SPECTRAN 119M device. Results. Contrasting weather conditions were considered including arid ones (2013) – that had negative effect on 1000 kernel weight, but at the same time positively influenced the averaged grain quality indices; with excess humidity (2014) – they resulted in decreasing of all technological indices; optimal ones (2015) – allowed to obtain maximum indices of grain and flour quality. Paired coefficients of correlation between different parameters of grain and flour quality were calculated. The most number of strong and medium correlations was found in a dry year (33.3%), the smallest one – in a wet year (13.0%). Such indices as flour strength, dough dilution and protein content depended on the conditions of the growing year least of all. Grain-unit response was the most considerable to the humid conditions of the year. The analysis of variance showed that climatic conditions had significant effect on the quality indices of grain and flour. At the same time, an important genotypic component was revealed in indices of dough resilience (63%), bread volume and rating (61 and 53% respectively), the flour strength (42%), crude gluten quality (33%), bread porosity (30%). With climate variations, the genotypic conditionality of the content of protein and especially crude gluten was expressed insignificantly. Conclusions. When creating high quality cultivars, plant breeders should be guided by such indices as flour strength, dough resilience, gluten quality, bread volume and rating as only they are more genetically determined

Purpose. To identify and describe the basic criteria for studying and assessing decorative and economic-and-biological characters of the genus Heuchera L. varieties in the context of introduction. Methods. Introduction procedure, analytical approach, morphological analysis and biometric data evaluation. Results. Aided by the comparative morphological analysis of introduced varieties of the genus Heuchera, significant differences in their characters were revealed, including plant height, height and width of the basal rosette of leaves, generative shoot height. There was a significant variation of such parameters as the number of generative shoots within one plant, the number of flowers on a single generative shoot, flowering abundance. Based on investigation findings, 17 groups of varieties were identified for the dominant color of adaxial surface of the leaf blade and 7 groups – for inflorescence color. According to phenological observations, Heuchera varieties groups were determined and the dates of commencement and duration of plants flowering were registered in the context of introduction. The results of these investigations are the necessary basis for the study and evaluation of this culture assortment, they are important in breeding and landscaping. Conclusions. Based on the results of investigations of morphological features of introduced species of the genus Heuchera, traits and parameters for varieties grouping were defined as well as decorative and economic-and-biological traits that should be evaluated.
