2003
Cakic, B. | Popovic, L. | Ljuboja, M. | Svrkota, D. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
Membrane processes is gaining broad application in potable water treatment. Experience in application of membrane system for treatment of potable water so far showed that these systems have wide range of advantages versus conventional treatment: lower capital costs, lower operation costs, use of chemicals is minimal; space for installation is much smaller, usage of chlorine for disinfection is minimal due to significant reduction of microorganisms; sludge production during the process is smaller due to smaller usage of chemicals, construction period is shorter due to smaller scope of works and relatively simply installation of membrane batteries.
Show more [+] Less [-]Dependence of trihalomethanes forming on contents of natural organic matters in coagulated water
2003
Bajevic, Lj. (Visa tehnicka skola, Zrenjanin (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Karlovic, E. | Jasin, D. | Agbaba, J. | Djeric, J.
The paper deals with determining the dependence of trihalomethanes forming (chloroform, bromdichlormethane, dibromchlormethane and bromoform) on the contents of natural organic matters from groundwater. The analyses was made bay calculating correlation of trihalomethanes forming potential (THMPF) with UV absorbance and permanganate number as surogates parameters for defining in content NOM in water. These were used to observe the changes in the content of organic matters after coagulation. A good correlation of THMPF, PF chloroform and UV absorbance (254 nm) (coeficient of correlation 0.72 and 0.87) was observed as well as a good with UV absorbance (254 nm) (coeficient of correlation - 0.88) and with PN (coeficient of correlation - 0.80) in coeficient of correlation in bromated trihalomethanes forming.
Show more [+] Less [-]The Zidine infiltration water source [Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro] - preliminary treatment plant
2003
Dimkic, D. | Ljuboja, M. | Popovic, L. | Vulic, D. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
The area of Zidine is located southwest of Belgrade, Serbia&Montenegro, in the sanitary protection zone of the existing Belgrade water source. This potential water source is capable of yielding water of better quality than that of the existing raw groundwater, for final treatment plants at Bezanija and Banovo Brdo. In view of available capacities of these plants and the raw water system, the water disposal issue is practically resolved and the water source is also highly advantageous in economic terms. Two options of preliminary treatment after settling were considered: sand filters and microfilters.

2003
Petrovic, O. (Prirodno-matematicki fakultet, Novi Sad (Serbia and Montenegro). Departman za biologiju i ekologiju) | Simeunovic, J. | Agbaba, J. | Ivancev-Tumbas, I.
As a consequence of bombing of Novi Sad Oil Refinery, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro), the spillage of large amounts of oil and derivatives caused hydrocarbons pollution of the area surrounding the Refinery and the river Danube, thus directly endangering the entire water source "Ratno ostro". As a measure of protection in the division zone of the Refinery and the water source area, a hydraulic barrier was constructed. Within the process of monitoring piezometer water quality and the water supplied by protection system wells, microbiological analyses of water were carried out with the aim of supervising the barrier functioning. The results have shown that bacterial populations in polluted areas exhibit a duel role: they act as bioindicators of a certain pollution, but at the same time they take part in the process of selfpurification.

Doklestic, O. (Opstina Herceg Novi, Herceg Novi (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Nicolaides, G.
This work presents a short review of the existing situation, nature conditions and recognised facts which are important for the sea- pollution of the oil, and another kind of the spill ship oils, inside of the Boka Bay and in the area of the open Adriatic Sea. The proposed original and innovative action concerns the large scale application of a new technique for a cleaning up waterborne oil spills, based on the magnetic separation method by using the material "CleanMag", an oleophillic, and porous material which also is magnetic with an increased density lower than that of the water.

Vukcevic, S. (Institut za tehnicka istrazivanja, Podgorica (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Vukmirovic, V. | Dakovic, S.
Degradation of groundwater quality whish is used as a raw water source, caused by the continuous pollution, develops gradually. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the pollution influence, on the first place by the expect concentration of hazardous substances in groundwater. Water source protection measures are based on the results of these analyses.

2003
Perovic, S. (Kombinat aluminijuma, Podgorica (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Kolinovic, R. | Grzetic, I.
Processes like QMS (Quality management systems) and EMS (Environmental management systems) consist of series of procedures/elements, among which are operative or working procedures. One of these procedures is control of waste waters from the Aluminium Plant in Podgorica, Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro). This procedure controls the order of activities, the responsibility, the input and output documents, with the exclusive aim to measure the effects of protection of surface and underground waters and to review the EMS of the company for the waste waters.

Stanisavljevic, M. (Fakultet zastite na radu, Nis (Serbia and Montenegro). Smer Zastita zivotne sredine) | Radanovic, B. (Garnizona ambulanta, Senta (Serbia and Montenegro))
In order to protect the water current of the river Tisza, the fermentation industry AD "Fermin" Senta, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro) has built the biological waste water treatment plant for the waste water discharged from the yeasts producing factory, which started the production in 1982. So far the output of the plant can be definied as not equal to the designed capacity level. The results of four effect analyses have been shown in the tabelar survey as well as the technological block scheme of both the current and suggested solution projects. The suggested solution basically contains phase separation in anaerobic procedure and the intraduction of tertial treatment method (nitrification and denitrification). The paper presents a contribution to optimal technology of industrial waste water treatment.

Man-made lakes cause direct and indirect changes in environmental conditions downstream of the water reservoir. Management must consider these water quality and environmental effects as well as uses of the river below the water reservoir.

The results of the examination point out on heterogenity of the phytoplankton community. The presence of 212 taxa has been noted. In the way of quality the green algae are dominant. In all the aspects of the quantitative analysis the domination of Bacillariophyta has been noted, first of all the centric forms. The amount of nutrients on the locality of border with Hungary is considerable, thus during low water and high temperature, the intensive algae development is usual.
