Nanomaterials (NMs) are those tiny materials that range from 1-100 nm. These materials show different characteristics in their physical and chemical forms in comparison to their bulk form. The use of nanomaterials is increasing day by day because of their enormous capabilities in the health sector as well as in other industries. There are currently few, if any, actual protocols for the disposal and characterization of these nanomaterials, which results in environmental toxicity. Heavy use of chemicals in the testing of nanomaterials has resulted in polluting our entire ecosystem. Inconsistent results of nanomaterial show that it is challenging to reduce the toxicity generated by it. In this review, we discuss the administration and use of nanomaterials in the agribusiness sector, in food, and, most importantly, in the environment, for purposes of protecting our plants and crops, dealing with incurable diseases, developing new tastes and textures in the food sector, sensations, identifying pathogenic organisms, and distribution systems where these minute particles can wreak havoc. Despite the potential benefits of nanomaterials, their unintentional harm to the environment and, in some cases, our health is making further development difficult. This article discusses the toxicity of nanomaterials and how they damage our environment, as well as the obstacles that come with overcoming them.

Cypermethrin insecticide is widely used to prevent and control pest and crop diseases though, its residues have caused significant damage to the environment and living organisms. Microbial remediation becomes a popular approach to counter the toxicity of cypermethrin in both aquatic as well as terrestrial life. Cypermethrin can be effectively degraded to nontoxic compounds by bacterial and fungal strains. Various bacterial and fungal strains such as Ochrobactrum lupini DG-S-01, Bacillus sp. strain SG2, Azoarcus indigens strain HZ5, Streptomyces aureus strain HP-S-01, and Aspergillus oryzae M-4 are used for the cypermethrin degradation. Extensive usage of cypermethrin has caused problems such as surface water contamination, reduced fertility of the soil, detrimental effects on soil microbiota and non-targeted species. Due to environmental concerns associated with the cypermethrin in groundwater and food products, there is a crucial need to develop economical, rapid, and reliable techniques that can be used for field applications. An in-depth understanding of cypermethrin is explored in this review paper and possible solutions to mitigate its environmental toxicity are suggested.

Glyphosate is a herbicide of a wide spectrum that alters the production of amino acids in plants, leading to their death. Due to its properties, it is used to eliminate weeds that interfere with human activity. The intensive use of this herbicide in the past decades has led to its frequent encounter in the environment as it has been detected in water, animals, and food destined for human consumption. Its impact on human health and the rest of living organisms has not been fully explored, given that many authors enter into contradictions with one another, specifically surrounding the role of surfactants in the commercial presentation of herbicides. The use of pesticides can have significant impacts on ecosystems, threatening bio-cultural diversity due to genetic contamination from transgenic crops. The effectiveness of Glyphosate-based herbicides in weed control is diminishing due to weed tolerance. However, the use of herbicides remains prevalent in large-scale crops due to the challenges of organic food production. In addition, the probable conflict of interest by the agrochemical industry does not bring a full picture with respect to the actions that world governments should take. Banning GLP-based herbicides may lead to the use of other pesticides, in which the long-term impacts will require further studies. The motivation for this research is the review of the latest advances of glyphosate in the world, considering the use and prohibitions of this herbicide, its interaction with water and soil, as well as the effects on both the environment and health.
