Quantitative analysis of histopathological lesion on liver in barbel (Barbus meridionalis petenyi Heck.) in the Ohrid lake [The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia]
2003
Velkova-Jordanoska, L. (JNU Hidrobioloski zavod, Ohrid (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia))
This report presents investigation performed as a part of a wider study desined to examine the level of pollution effects on fish in Ohrid lake (The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). Faunal investigation of the fish Barbus meridionalis petenyi Heck. were carried out at the five localities in Ohrid lake. Microscope analysis of histological preparation of barbel hepatic tissue displayed a dominant presence of granulomatous inflammation on a level of hepatocelular parenchyme and cholangiofibrosis on a level of hepatic bile duck. The analysis did not exhibit any correlation between the granulomatous inflammation and the manifestation of the cholangiofibrous alterations.

2003
Ljubisavljevic, D. | Jovanovic, B. (Univerzitet u Beogradu, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro). Gradjevinski fakultet)
Slow sand filtration is an effective water treatment process. However, the performance of slow sand filters is influenced by the raw water turbidity. Filtration on pebble-matrix and roughing filters is introduced as a process effective in reduction of raw water turbidity. Efficiencies of these pretreatments documented on the raw water sources world-wide are presented in this paper as well as the investigation results from the similar raw water source in Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro).
Show more [+] Less [-]Iron in drinking water of the central water supply systems in Sombor, Apatin, Kula and Odzaci [Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro] from 1997 to 2001

Cubrilo, D. | Zelic, J. | Dolga, M. (Zavod za zastitu zdravlja, Sombor (Serbia and Montenegro))
Having known the fact that on the territory of West-Backa region the only water used for water supply system is subterranean water, from different water layers, an assumption can be made that the waters also differ in their physical and chemical content. It is also assumed that these waters differ in their total iron content. The aim of this work is to test the significance of the difference between central water supply systems of West-Backa region (Sombor, Apatin, Kula and Odzaci) for the value of iron in drinking water, using the adequate statistics methods. The central water supply systems in Sombor, Apatin, and Kula are using water from the second water layer (60-75 m), while the water supply system in Odzaci is using deep artesian and subartesian waters (146-220 m). Sombor and Apatin have the raw water purification system and one of the goals is to decrease the concentration of total amount of iron in drinking water.
Show more [+] Less [-]The efficiency of the drinking water plant in Grgurovci [Serbia, Serbia&Montenegro] after the technological-technical reconstruction
2003
Cibulic, V. (Zavod za zastitu zdravlja, Leskovac (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Perisic, M. (Geo institut, Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro))
The results of a study on the water of the Sumanka river during several years point out the decrease in its quality. The results of the present study show that the technological actions, as well as the some technical changes, carried out in the Lebane's plant in Grgurovci gave the satisfactory effects. Turbidity, colour, KMnO4 demand and ammonia are efficiently reduced, along with low concentrations of Fe, Mn, and residual Al, ensure completely the water standard quality in accordance with the Protocol.

2003
Nedic, L. (Strucna skola "Sveti Sava", Bujanovac (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Stanisavljevic, M.
This paper presents a process for phenol removal comprising a reaction step in which phenol is polymerized in the presence of an enzyme horseradish peroxidase. A crude preparation from horseradish roots was used as a low purity source of the enzyme. The technical feasibility of the process was studied using 1 to 10 mM synthetic phenol solutions. Experimental results showed the potential of the proposed technique. A phenol conversion higher than 90% was observed at the polymerization process.

Mandic, S. (Institut za biologiju mora, Kotor - Dobrota (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Kljajic, Z. | Joksimovic, A. | Mickovic, B. | Hegedis, A.
Sasko Lake, with surface area of 3.4 square km and depth of about 8 m, is situated is southwestern part of Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro), within the hydrosystem of Skadarsko Lake. During 2002 and 2003, seasonal dynamics of main hydrographic, physical, chemical and biological parameters of this ecosystem was monitored. Reference measuring spots are defined, and in these places all future monitoring of system state will be accomplished. Also done are the preliminary batimetric measurements and maps of spaces suitable for development of breeding activities. In order to develop aquaculture as a strategic interest of Montenegro (Serbia&Montenegro), it is necessary to utilize these important potentials and place this important natural resource in full fuction. Included are the list of all fish species living in the lake, as well as the suggestion of species that could be suitable for commercial breeding.

2003
Timotijevic, V. ("Vodovod i kanalizacija" JKP, Kragujevac (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Djuran, D. | Milovanovic, D. | Comic, Lj. | Curcic, S.
Water reservoir "Gruza" is used forthe water supply of the town of Kragujevac and it's surroundings. The paper shows a comparative overview of physical, chemical and microbiological parameters during the period of 1987-1989, and 1997-1998. Variations of physical, chemical and microbiological parameters are given in the paper.

Radenkovic, Z. (Institut za vodoprivredu "Jaroslav Cerni", Beograd (Serbia and Montenegro)) | Jevtic, G. | Josipovic, J. | Jevtic, O.
Nis Tobacco Factory, Serbia (Serbia&Montenegro) has water supply from two resources, public water supply system and from its dug well. In periods of water shortages and smaller deliveries from public water supply system (e.g. recession periods) it is necessary to provide additional water quantities for proper functioning of tobacco refinement. For that purpose capability for utilization of terrace deposits for water supply was analyzed.
