The paper presents the results of aquatic macroinvertebrates community analyses of the Milesevka river (Lim river watershed; Sava river basin) with aim to evaluate saprobiological status. Sampling was carried out on five localities during 2005. A diverse community (62 taxa) has been recorded during the investigation. Results of saprobiological investigation indicate satisfactory water quality, which is, according to national legislative, within 1st and 2nd quality class.

The paper presents aquatic macroinvertebrate community at four investigated localities of the Gradac river. Sampling was carried out during 2003 and 2006. Community structure and composition, together with field data, were used to estimate the water quality status of the river. A total of 87 taxa have been recorded. Insects were found to be the most diverse component, especially Ephemeroptera. Insects were dominant in the regard of the quantitative structure of the community, as well. Recorded community indicates good water quality, ranged between oligosaprobic and beta-mesosaprobic status (1st-2nd class according national classification scheme).

This paper presents the results of assessment of dredging activities at the Romanian side of the channel on the quality of water and sediment in the Begej channel (in Serbia). Sediment monitoring results have pointed to the increasing content of metals in surface sediments, as well as increased concentrations of some metals (Cd, Ni and Cr) compared to the period from 2008. Results of the water quality after the dredging at the Romanian side shows low metal concentrations, which is probably caused by coprecipitation of metal in the iron in forms of amorphous and hydrated oxide. Monitoring of water and sediment should be conducted continously through the year in order to follow the trend of sediment and water quality and targeted when we know the exact time of some of the activities in the channel.

The results of microbiological analyses of raw water of two water supplies of city of Novi Sad (Ratno Ostrvo and Petrovaradinska Ada) are presented. The sampling was performed monthly during 2008 and 2009. The following parameters were monitored: aerobic mesophilic bacteria count at 37 deg C, organotroph count (water categorization according to Kohl), facultative oligotrophs, lipolitic and hydrocarbon-oxidizing bacteria count. The count of organotrophic bacteria was determined using low nutritive R2A medium. In addition, water was classified according to enzymatic activity of water, expressed as index of phosphatase activity (IFA).

Research of presence and distribution of algal ordo Cystoseira has been done in 8 locations of Montenegrin coast. Presence of 8 species is confirmed and analysis of their aggregation on locations and aggregation of locations based on physico-chemical parameters of sea water and exposition to the waves are studied. Possibility of using these organisms as bioindicators is suggested.

Investigation of the echinoderms fauna in the benthic biocoenosis on the Montenegrin shelf is conducted during 2007. Total number of 50 species is identified and they are grouped into 5 classes. Specific conditions of the south Adriatic cause presence of eight termophilic species. Inside collected materials were eight Mediterranean endemics and two submediterramean endemic species. Diversity and quantity of the registered species depend of physical-chemical water conditions, bottom type as well as anthropogenic impact.

Norway lobster, Nephrops norvegicus is decapod crustacean species that has not been sufficiently researched on the Montenegrin coast. The trawl survey was carried out in the framework of the national research project: The biological resources, edible and inedible, in the trawl fishery on the Montenegrin coast. The spring, summer and autumn aspects were taken into consideration. There is no data regarding the Norway lobster on the Montenegrin coast. The aim of this paper is to give the information about partitipation of this very important commercial species in the trawl fishery on the shelf and continental slope at the Montenegrin coast as well as catch per unit of effort.

Marine sediments are very important for transport, fate and influence of heavy metals in marine ecosystem and therefore they represent good indicator of its ecological status. A great attention has been given in the last two decades in the Mediterranean region to the determination of heavy metals concentration in marine sediments through the monitoring programs, as well as to the studies of heavy metals distribution and their effects on biota. This paper presents the concentrations of Cr, Ni, Cu, Cd, Pb, and Zn determined by EDPXRF method, in the surficial sediment samples taken from six location in the coastal region of the South East Adriatic and their distribution in the investigated area. It can be noticed the influence of the Bojana river regarding the content and distribution of selected heavy metals.

The possibility of applying the process solidification/stabilization for treatment of arsenic containing sludge, obtained after coagulation and flocculation treatment in the preparation of raw drinking water, using lime, cement and lime and cement in the mixture as stabilization agents was examined. Test results showed a high content of arsenic in the initial sample of sludge, above the allowable 41 mg As/kg by the USEPA prescribed for disposal of waste sludge. Performance of S/S process was investigated by two leaching tests, PCLP and DIN 38414-S4 test, which showed the highest efficiency of lime and cement mixture in the removal of arsenic by this procedure.

During the summer 2009 physical, chemical, biochemical and bacteriological analyses of water of rivers Mušnica and Suški Potok were performed. Microbiological analysis point out that waters belong to the 2nd class by Kohl. The river Mušnica had slightly polluted water, and river Suški Potok had very slightly polluted water. According to the Regulation on Classification of Surface Waters in Republic of Srpska (Bosnia and Herzegivina) all the observed parameters belong to the first or second water quality class. Only the stream Suški Potok has chloride concentration that exceeds a third-class quality. On the basis of observed characteritics it can be concluded that Mušnica and Suški Potok have a satisfactory water quality.
