Use of Forest Products Who Lives in Mountain Areas of Mersin Province

In the study, which is conducted in mountain villages of Mersin province, 99 people selected by simple random sampling method. The data were collected by face to face interviewed. 64.6% of the individuals were male, 35.4% female and 35.4% had a primary school diploma. The average household width was 2.38 and the average age was 50.32. Small ruminant and beekeeping activities are the main source of livelihood for individuals who lives in mountain villages, but also they are benefiting from forest products. As forest products, medicinal aromatic plants such as centaury, thyme, rosehip, mushrooms, blackberries, carob, and straw are used. Men work more intensively in jobs such as wood, timber and resin, which require heavy labour, while products such as centaurs, blackberries and rosehips are collected by women. Individuals' perceptions of forest and forest products do not change according to gender, age and education level. This is because they need the forest and its’ products to maintain their lives. In general, it is determined that the population living in the mountain villages live a life based on forest and forest products. In this context, protection of forest areas in the region is very important both for the prevention of environmental damage and for the people of the region. In addition to individual awareness, support should be provided by the relevant ministries on the use and protection of forests and products. The aim of this study was to identify the use of forest products and opinion about forest who lives in mountain villages of Mersin.

Bu çalışmada, Mersin körfezinde avlanan mavi yengecin (Callinectes sapidus Rathbun, 1896) mikrobiyolojik kalite bakımdan incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Örnekler, Mersin Merkez (1. İstasyon), Erdemli (2. İstasyon) ve Silifke (3. İstasyon) ilçelerinde avlanan balıkçılardan temin edilmiş ve Mersin Gıda Kontrol Laboratuvar Müdürlüğü’nde analize alınmıştır. Çalışmada 180 adet örnek kullanılmış olup, analizler Ocak - Aralık 2014 tarihleri arasında aylık periyotlar şeklinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmada Salmonella spp., Koagulaz pozitif Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, Vibrio choleraee, Vibrio parahaemolyticus, ve koliform grubu bakteriler araştırılmıştır. Çalışmada elde edilen sonuçlar göre; Salmonella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Vibrio parahaemolyticus ve Vibrio cholerae her üç istasyonda da yıl boyunca tespit edilmemiştir. Koagulaz pozitif Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli ve koliform grubu bakteriler ise üç çalışma istasyonunda tespit edilmiş ve sıcaklığa bağlı olarak artış gösterdikleri saptanmıştır. Sonuç olarak; çevresel kökenli faktörlerin taze yakalanmış yengeçlerin bakteriyel florası üzerinde etkisinin olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
Show more [+] Less [-]The Changing of Important Factors in The Landscape Planning Occur Due to Global Climate Change in Temperature, Rain and Climate Types: A Case Study of Mersin City

Global climate change is seen as a process that will directly or indirectly affect living things and ecosystems all over the world. In this process, determining the changes in climate parameters and climate types in advance is of great importance in terms of the measures that can be taken and the preparation for the process. In this study, it is aimed to determine the changes that may be caused by global climate change in some climate parameters and climate types in Mersin, which is one of the important cities of our country. Within the scope of the study, the current status of temperature, precipitation and climate types (according to De Martone and Emberger climate classification) and RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5. It is aimed to compare the possible situations in 2050 and 2070 in the light of scenarios. The results of the study show that temperature, precipitation and climate types will change significantly throughout Mersin province. Today, the temperature varying between -0.4°C and 19°C will change between 4.9°C and 24°C throughout the province in 2070 according to the RCP 8.5 scenario, that is, there will be an increase of around 5°C in the temperature change interval, the precipitation regime will change, Climate types are predicted to shift towards arid climates. This situation shows that climate factors, one of the most important planning criteria, will change significantly in landscape planning studies. Since landscape planning studies continue their effects for many years, it is recommended to take this into consideration in order to make a healthy planning. The results of this study should be used in the planning studies for Mersin province.

Pulse processing industry almost all located in Mersin province in Turkey. Strategic importance considered both national and international trade in terms of capital, domestic and foreign trade connections, knowledge and experience, pulse processing technology Mersin has an important position in the world. However, decline in pulse crops production in recet years, market fluctuations lead companies to import intensively and competitor countries have become major supplier. In the study, these developments in pulse production and trade in recent years, companies and also researchers opinions take into account to determine companies strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats for SWOT analysis with the aim of offer sector-oriented strategies. Results of SWOT analysis were analyzed with SOR analysis. It is tried to develop strategies for development of pulse industry.
