Birçok Avrupa ülkesinde hava kirliliği dolayısıyla çevrenin korunması önemli konuların başında gelmektedir. İsviçre’de yapılan araştırmalar, karayolu dışı taşıt trafiğinin hava kirliliğinin önemli bir bölümünün nedeni olduğunu göstermiştir. Tarım traktörleri de karayolu dışı taşıt trafiğinin önemli bir bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. Gelişmiş ve gelişmekte olan ülkelerde traktör sayılarında hızlı bir artış görülmektedir. Traktör sayılarının bu artışı nedeniyle traktör egzoz emisyonları ve bunların çevreye olan etkileri üzerinde büyüyen bir ilgi vardır. Doğru emisyon değerlerinin belirlenmesi ve kullanılan ölçüm metotları önem kazanmıştır. Traktör motorlarının tip onayı için bir motor test donanımında emisyon ölçümlerine yönelik düzenlemeler mevcuttur, ancak traktörün farklı çalışma koşullarında emisyon ölçümleri için bir prosedür mevcut değildir. Yapılan çalışmalar traktörlerin farklı çalışma koşullarında ölçülen egzoz gazlarının, emisyon test yöntemlerindeki sabit durum koşullarında elde edilen değerlerden daha yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir. Bu sonuçlar, emisyon ölçümünde kullanılan test prosedürlerinin değiştirilmesinin gerekliliğini ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Yeni testlerin geliştirilmesi, traktörlerden kaynaklanan egzoz emisyonlarını azaltacaktır.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Siyez, Kavılca ve Dinkel gibi atalık buğday unlarının tam buğday unu yerine kaplama formülasyonlarında kullanılmasının tavuk nuggetların kalitesi üzerine etkilerini araştırmaktır. 4°C’de 7 gün depolanan derin yağda kızartılmış tavuk nuggetların kimyasal özellikleri, kalite karakteristikleri, pH, lipid oksidasyonu, renk, doku ve duyusal özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Hamur formülasyonları, nuggetların kimyasal ve kalite özelliklerini önemli ölçüde etkilediği, Dinkel unu ile kaplanan tavuk nuggetlarda kaplama kalınlığının, kaplama yapışma oranının ve pişirme veriminin en yüksek olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kontrol örneklerinin renk puanlarının depolama süresi boyunca azaldığı, atalık unlarla kaplanmış tavuk nuggetların renk puanlarının değişmediği tespit edilmiştir. 0. günde Siyez unu ile kaplı örnekler en yüksek lezzet puanını alırken, 3. günde örneklerin lezzet puanlarının birbirine yakın olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Depolamanın 7. gününde kontrol örneği en düşük lezzet puanını almıştır. Siyez unu ile kaplanmış tavuk nuggetların sululuk puanlarının depolama süresince değişmediği, doku puanlarının arttığı tespit edilmiştir. Siyez ve Kavılca unu ile kaplanmış nuggetların genel kabul edilebilirlik puanları depolamanın 0. ve 3. günlerinde kontrol örnekleriyle benzer bulunmuştur. Doku profil analizinde, tüm nuggetlarin sertlik, yapışkanlık, elastikiyet ve sakızımsılık değerleri arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Depolama süresi arttıkça Kavılca unu ile kaplı örneklerin sertlik değerinin arttığı, çiğnenebilirlik değerlerinin azaldığı tespit edilmiştir.

Karbon noktalar (KN), boyutları 10 nm’den küçük, suda çözünme özelliği yüksek, biyo-uyumluluğu gelişmiş, geniş optik özelliklere ve düşük toksisiteye sahip, karbon nanomateryal sınıfının yeni bir üyesidir. KN, bahsi geçen özelliklerinin yanında; çevre dostu, kolay ve düşük maliyetli sentez yöntemleri, kolay uygulanabilirliği gibi sebeplerden dolayı gıda güvenliğini alanında erken tespit hususunda geleneksel analiz yöntemleri ve diğer floresan karbon nanomateryaller kullanılarak yapılan analizlere göre bir adım öndedir. Yapılan araştırmalar gıda güvenliği kapsamında yapılan analizlerde floresan KN kullanımının, analitlerin hassas ve yüksek seçicilikte tespit edilebildiğini ortaya koymuştur. Bu derlemede, KN gıda güvenliği kapsamında kalıntı ve kontaminantların tespitinde ve gıda ambalajında kullanılmasına yönelik araştırmalar incelenmiştir.

Butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L.) is a tropical plant that is rich in bioactive compounds, especially anthocyanins which are useful as natural dyes and antioxidant compounds. The bioactive compounds of butterfly pea flowers are unstable due to environmental influences, especially temperature, oxygen, light and acidity. In order to improve the stability of bioactive compounds, especially anthocyanin compounds in powder form, it is necessary to utilize encapsulation technology using coating materials. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of maltodextrin concentration and drying temperature on the physico-chemical characteristics and color measurements of encapsulated butterfly pea flower extract. The research method used was a factorial design prepared using a randomized block design consisting of 2 factors. Factor I (maltodextrin concentration) consisted of 3 levels, namely (10%, 20%, and 30%) while factor II (drying temperature) consisted of 3 levels (70ºC, 80ºC, and 90ºC), with 3 repetitions. The observation variables are: a) antioxidant activity, b) anthocyanin content, c) water content, d) dissolution time, e) color properties (L*, a*, and b*). Based on general research results, a maltodextrin concentration of 10% and a drying temperature of 70ºC showed the best results based on antioxidant activity rate and the highest anthocyanin content (51.47% and 47.36mg/g), as well as color measurements with the lowest L* value = 52, highest a* value = +2.6, and highest b* = -11.16. Except for powder solubility, a maltodextrin concentration of 30% and a drying temperature of 90ºC resulted in the fastest solubility time (16.67 seconds). For water content, all treatments were still in accordance with spice standards in Indonesia and standards issued by the USDA.

Ağır metallerin biyolojik olarak ıslahında alternatif bir çözüm olarak funguslar etkili bir yöntem olarak kabul edilmektedir. Çalışmanın amacı, uzun süreli ağır metalle kontamine olmuş Samsun Organize Sanayi Bölgesi ve Adalar Orman bölgesinden alınan Pinus brutia ibrelerinde karşılaştırmalı olarak ağır metal konsantrasyonlarını belirlemek ve potansiyel biyoremediatörler olabilecek mantar mikobiyomunu değerlendirmekti. Çalışma sonucunda ibre numunelerinde Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Cr, Cd, Ni, Se, As, Li, V ve Co elementlerinin analizleri yapılmış, bu elementlerden Ni, As, Li, V ve Co element konsantrasyonları belirlenebilir limitlerin altında kalmıştır. Diğer elementlerin tamamında ise Samsun OSB’de elde edilen konsantrasyonlar, Adalar bölgesinde elde edilen konsantrasyonlardan daha yüksek seviyededir. Bunun yanı sıra metagenomik analiz sonucunda, Samsun OSB P. brutia ibrelerinde sırasıyla Aureobasidium (%27,5), Gibberella (%20,7), Cladosporium (%14), Articulospora (%5,8), Helicoma (%3,1), Alternaria (%1,7), Hazslinszkyomyces (%1,6) ve Lasiodiplodia (%1) cinsleri belirlenirken Samsun Adalar mikobiyomunda sırasıyla Phaeococcomyces (%22,8), Hormonema (%19,1), Aureobasidium (%13,8), Cladosporium (%6,5), Alternaria (%4,6), Neosetophoma (%3,1), Rachicladosporium (%3), Ophiosphaerella (%2,1), ve Phaeosclera (%1,8) cisleri saptanmıştır. Sonuçlar element konsantrasyonundaki fazlalığa dirençli olduğu bilinen taksonların ortamda dominant olduğunu göstermektedir. Gelecekte bu çalışma sürdürülebilir temiz bir çevre için ağır metal kirliliğinin biyolojik kaynaklar kullanılarak iyileştirilmesi yaklaşımlarına yönelik yenilikçi stratejilerin geliştirilmesine referans teşkil edebilir.

The study aimed to evaluate the economic viability and profitability of cultivating improved tomato varieties in Akure North and Ifedore Local Government Areas of Ondo State, Nigeria. Primary data were collected through a well-structured questionnaire, with a sample size of 150 farmers selected using snowball sampling through a multi-stage procedure. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics, farm budgeting techniques, and multiple regression. Findings revealed that 36.7% of farmers were within their active working age. Most farmers (71.3%) were female, and 73.3% were married, with an average household size of seven. Around 40.7% of the farmers had higher education (HND/B.Sc.), and 68.7% were members of farming associations. Economic analysis indicated a total cost of N208,374.04 and a net income of N601,625.96, yielding a return on investment (ROI) of 3.89, meaning N2.89 profit for every N1 invested. The study also highlighted that farm size, farming experience, educational level, and agrochemical applications significantly influenced tomato production. Challenges identified included unfavorable climate, theft, price instability, poor seed supply, and inadequate capital. The study recommended government support in providing subsidies and resources for farm expansion and better extension services to ensure a steady supply of improved tomato varieties.

Faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is a significant member of the Fabaceae family, known for its high protein content and rich phenolic compounds essential for human nutrition. These phenolic compounds, which belong to the group of secondary metabolites, serve as important dietary components. Secondary metabolites, act as plant defence mechanisms and can fluctuate under stress conditions. Weeds negatively impact the growth of cultivated plants by competing for nutrients and creating a stressful environment. This study evaluated the effects of weeds on the yield and quality parameters of faba bean. Conducted in Sakarya, the research aimed to determine how weed control frequency affects the yield and some secondary metabolites of faba bean. The experiment used a randomized block design with four replications and included four faba bean genotypes: two registered varieties (Eresen-87 and Salkım) and two local populations (Bilecik and Sakarya). Weed control treatments; comprised weedy control, hoeing every 15 days, and hoeing every 30 days. Measured parameters included plant height (cm), number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 1000 seed weight (g), dry seed yield (g), and DPPH radical scavenging activity (%). Data were analyzed using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test with SPSS, revealing statistically significant differences (p<0.05) in all measured parameters. The tallest plants were found in the Salkım×Control plot, while the shortest were in Sakarya×15. The highest number of pods occurred in Sakarya×30, and the lowest in Eresen-87×15. The highest number of seeds per pod was recorded in Bilecik×15, while the lowest was in all treatments of the Salkım variety and the Eresen-87×15 plot. The highest dry seed yield came from Bilecik×15, with the lowest from Eresen-87×30. DPPH activity peaked in Bilecik×Control, indicating significant differences in yield and nutritional content among faba bean genotypes. These findings indicate that different genotypes excel in various agricultural and nutritional characteristics, demonstrating that these differences can play an important role in shaping future production strategies.

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of varying doses of Zeatin, Kinetin, and Gibberellic Acid biostimulants on the growth and biochemical parameters of Mentha piperita L. Conducted in a greenhouse with three replications using a "Completely Randomized Experimental Design" design, the experiment assessed seedling and root lengths, fresh and dry weights of seedlings and roots, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity (CUPRAC and FRAP). The results revealed that biostimulant applications significantly increased all growth and biochemical parameters compared to the control. Gibberellic acid at 200 mg/l produced the longest seedlings, while Kinetin at 50 mg/l resulted in the longest roots. The highest antioxidant activity (FRAP) and total phenolic content were observed with the 40 mg/l dose of Zeatin.

Tahin üretiminde en önemli aşama susamın fiziksel ve kimyasal özelliklerini etkilediği için kavurmadır. Bu çalışmada tahin üretiminde kullanılan kabuksuz susam tohumlarının sıcak hava fritözünde optimum kavurma koşullarının belirlenmesi ve özelliklerinin konvansiyonel yöntemle karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında kabuğu soyulmuş susam tohumları farklı sıcaklık (160°C, 180°C ve 200°C) ve sürelerde (15-70 dakika) sıcak hava fritözünün haznesine 0,8 gr/cm3 olacak şekilde yayılarak kavrulmuştur. Kavurma işlemindeki sıcaklık ve süre parametreleri yanıt yüzey yöntemi kullanılarak optimize edilmiştir. Kavrulmuş örneklerin ΔE (toplam renk değişimi) ve su aktivitesi verilerine göre sıcak hava fritözünün optimum çalışma sıcaklığı ve süresi 181,1°C ve 36,7 dk olarak belirlenmiştir. Sıcak hava fritözünde kavurma neticesinde konvansiyonel kavurmaya göre yağ verimi %50’den %60’a çıkmıştır. En düşük peroksit değeri 1,69 meq O2/kg ile 180°C de 35 dk da sıcak hava fritözünde tespit edilmiştir. FTIR sonuçları da sıcak hava fritözü ile kavrulmuş susamların oksidasyona karşı daha dayanıklı olduğunu desteklemiştir. Sıcak hava fritözü ile 5 kat daha kısa sürede kavrulan susamların konvansiyonel kavurmaya göre asitlik değerleri ve yağ asidi kompozisyonları benzer bulunmuştur. HMF içeriğinde ise sağlık açısından riskli seviyede bir oluşum gözlenmemiştir.

This study was carried out to assess feed resources mineral composition and utilization of mineral soil in the Haramaya district of the East Hararghe Zone, Ethiopia. The survey data was collected from four kebeles using a semi-structured questionnaire from 80 respondents (20 from each kebele) selected randomly. Two natural pasture samples across the wet and dry seasons were collected using a quadrant from each season. Two maize and sorghum stover samples were collected for analysis at the end of harvesting seasons. Two mineral soil samples were collected from Lake Adelle and Small Abaya. Table salt (50%), mineral water (30%), and mineral soil (20%) were used as mineral supplements for livestock. Farmers obtain mineral soil from the licking area of the mineral soil and feed animals by hiking them in the licking area and taking the mineral soil into the home. Maize stover was deficient in Ca, P, Na, Zn, and Cu, while sorghum stover was deficient in P, Na, Mg, and Cu. During the wet season, natural pasture consists of higher (p<0.05) P, K, Cu, Zn, and Mn while Ca and Fe were higher (p<0.05) in the dry season. During wet and dry seasons, the Ca, P, Na, Mg, and K content were 14.53 vs 20.47, 1.51 vs 0.82, 0.38 vs 0.45, 4.01 vs 3.84, and 16.50 vs 6.40 g/kg, respectively. The Mn, Fe, Cu, and Zn contents were 365.14 vs 415.22, 477.78 vs 336.11, 8.48 vs 7.38 and 42.74 vs 16.94 mg/kg in wet and dry seasons, respectively. The mineral soil of both lakes was deficient in P and K, but high in Na and Fe. Supplementation of animals with deficient minerals in their feed is necessary in the study area and the mineral soil can be used as a mineral supplement for ruminants. However, an extension service is essential to improve mineral soil utilization in the study area.
