Aiming at to characterize a population of angry bean (Capparis flefluosa) they were appraised 30 plants of each category (trees, adult pruned and regeneration), disposed to the case in a palm area. They were appraised the height of the plant, diameter of the height of the chest, diameter of the height of the base, presence of floral buttons, florescimento, fructification in you hoist. For interpretation of the results one was used analyzes of variance, with randomized designe consting. The medium height of the appraised plants was of 5,1 m, diameter of the height of the chest of 16,8 cm, diameter of the height of the base 18,6 cm and diameter of the cup 5,3 m. you hoist presented Them floral buttons between January and February, they bloomed between January and March and they fructified between February and March. The chemical composition among the categories presented a medium tenor for dry matter (MS), crude protein (PB), fiber in neutral detergent (FDN), fiber in acid detergent (FDA), mineral matter (MM), organic matter (OM), hemicelulose (HEM), cellulose (CEL) and lignin (LIG), of 49,5%; 15,4%; 54,1%; 35,6%; 8,9%; 91,1%; 18,4%; 27,6% and 7,2%, respectively. The obtained results indicated that the angry bean possesses similar chemical composition the legumes herbage, being considered an alternative for the exploration in consortium systems seeking to the animal feeding in periods of shortage of forage of the area.

The objective of this present study was to evaluate the productive performance and carcass traits of kids goats receiving rations containing four ratios of concentrate and roughage using the Elephant grass in natura chopped as roughage. The ratios evaluated were: 80:20; 60:40; 40:60 and 20:80% of concentrate and roughage in dry matter basis of rations. Twenty eight Saanen male goats with 9.3 kg of initial body weight distributed in four groups with seven animals in collective pens were used. The experimental design adopted was a completely randomized with seven replicates. The increase of concentrate in rations promoted higher average daily gain, final body weight, total weight gain. Besides, there were obtained higher hot and cold carcass weight and dressing using highest concentrate levels. Thus, technically is viable the use of high concentrate based rations for finishing male goats. However, the concentrate to be used depends to bioeconomic performance promoted.

The objective of the present work was to characterize melon plant accessions collected in the Brazilian Northeast. They were appraised 42 accessions and four you cultivate commercial, in the years of 2006 and 2007, in twoexperiments in randomized blocks with two replications. 24 traits were used, being 1 of the seed, 11 of fruits, 7 inflorescência, 4 of the leaf and 2 of the plant. The accesses belonged to the botanical group Cantalupensis, Momordica, Conomon and not defined group. Great variation was observed among the accessions for all the traits, especially in the fruit descritores. Variation was verified among and within of the studied botanical groups, mainly in the group Cantalupensis. In a general way, the accesses were fruitful, productive, with long fruits of intermediate size the big ones, with low pulp firmness and lower content of soluble solids. The characterization of the accessions with relationship to the fruit traits can aid the improvement programs. Some accessions can be used to increased the fruitful and the productivity of the melon through crossings with elite cultivars.

The Calotropis procera has been an alternative feed for the ruminants in the brasilian semiarid region, presenting fast establishment and constant availability of fitomassa, until 3.0 t of DM/cut, in the dry season. On the aspect biochemical studies have detected various active substances as cardiac glycosides, non enzymatic proteins and enzimatics proteins, that can cause toxicity in animals when inserted in their diet. In nutritional terms, this species provides important nutrients with emphasis on protein, average value of 20%, and in vitro digestibility above 70%. It researches they showed that the intake of C. procera by goats and sheep in the form in nature can cause deaths, however, to make the process of hay and silage the toxicological effects are reduced. The utilization of C. procera is promissing, needing studies for maximize of the productivity; biochemical evaluation for identification of active substances, their mechanisms and local action in the animal, as well as testing to obtain the safe levels for inclusion in various forms of supply (in natura, hay and silage).

The local as regional landscape presents two distinct landscapes: sediments removal from elevated parts and Pedoenvironmental of accumulation of sediments in the area of sandbank with the pedoforms convex-convex, with the biggest curvatures in the sandbanks. The objective of the present work was of characterize physically, morphologicament and chemically the soils groups, located in Semi-Arid region of the medium one West of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Few studies about the morphology, mineralogy, genesis and classification of the soils developed in the state of Rio Grande do Note mainly in the medium one West of Northeast of Brazil. Inside this context eight soils representative of that landscape into caatinga were characterized by means of description morphologic, granulometric and chemical. The results observed in the granulometry of the Luvisol and Neosol reflect basically the different deposition situations in those soils. The high values of organic matter and nitrogen in the superficial horizons, decreasing with the depth and the strong presence of calcium and magnesium justified the variation of pH and the high value of the cation exchange capacity.

The experiment was carried out at the Embrapa Semi-Arid, Petrolina, Pernambuco State, Brazil aiming to study the behavior of five species of the genus Spondias: umbu-cajá (Spondias sp.), umbuguela (Spondias sp.), cajá (S. lutea L.), cajá-manga (S. cytherea Sonn.) e ceriguela (S. purpurea L.) grafted on umbuzeiro (S. tuberosa Cam), which presents a specialized root system bearing tubers. Five-years old plants, spaced by 10.0 m x 10.0 m were studied under rainfed conditions based on phenotypic and physiological data acquisition. The results indicated the occurrence of high levels of graft unions and good vegetative performance of all species, suggesting the occurrence of week incompatibility barriers among them and the rootstock. Consequently, all grafted species presented a internal water balance recovering similar to the umbuzeiro due to the presence of tubers in the root system. Despite the improvement on the species' water balance, the values on stomatal conductance, transpiration and photosynthesis significantly decreased along the experimental period suggesting the existing of a signal present in the root system that controls the stomatal aperture, although to the umbuzeiro, the reduction on gas exchange was less steeped.

The present work aimed to estimate the litterfall rate accumulation in stands of Parkia pendula Benth., Caesalpinia ferrea var. ferrea Mart. ex Tul., Caesalpinia echinatta Lam., Mimosa caesalpiniifolia Benth. and in the native forest in Nísia Floresta National Forest, in the Municipality of Nísia Floresta-RN. The biomass was collected with a metallic frame accomplished in 10 points of each stand in dry and rainy season of 2003. The material was separated in leaves, branches and miscellany fractions, washed, dried at 65ºC for 48 hours and after weighted. Larger biomass accumulation was observed in the Parkia pendula stand with 15.49 Mg.ha-1 and the smallest in Caesalpinia echinatta with 9.52 Mg.ha-1. It was verified in all the stands more leaf biomass production with high amount for Caesalpinia ferrea and Mimosa caesalpiniifolia, accumulating 10.38 and 10.25 Mg.ha-1, respectively. The branches+bark production was larger in the Parkia pendula plot with 4.95 Mg.ha-1 and in the native forest with 3.19 Mg.ha-1. The litterfall accumulation in the pure plantations was larger in the dry period, reaching 33% more than in the rainy season. The cluster analysis classified the forest typologies in two blocks, being the first formed by Caesalpinia ferrea, Mimosa caesalpiniifolia and Parkia pendula, and the second by Caesalpinia echinatta and native forest, with the leaf fraction being the main discriminatory variable.

With the objective of evaluating the growth of three cultivates of carrot, it was done an experiment, from June until September, 2006, in the Vegetable garden of the "Departamento de Ciências Vegetais" of UFERSA, Mossoró-RN. This work was delineated in factorial scheme 8x3 in randomized blocks, with four repetitions. The first factor constituted by the times of collections of plants was: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49 and 56 days after polish, and the second for the cultivars: Brasília, Alvorada and Esplanada. The used spacing was 20cm among arrays and 4cm among plants. The characteristics evaluates were: number of leaves; dry mass root, leaves and total, foliate area, foliate area index (FAI), foliate area reason( FAR), relation part air/root and for the rates of relative growth (RRG) and absolute (RAG). The number of leaves, the foliate area, the dry mass root, leaves and total, RAG and FAI increased while FAR, relation part air/root and RRG refused, in the experimental period, for all the cultivates evaluated. The cultivates presented similar behavior with the relation to the characteristics: number of leaves, foliate area, dry mass leaves FAI, RRG and RAG. The mass accumulation of dry mass root it went superior for cultivars Alvorada and Brasília in relation to the Esplanada, for occasion of the harvest, in the 56 days after polish.

The study was care out to evaluate the consumption and digestibility of rations with increasing levels of coconut meal by sheep. Eight sheep between six and ten months old installed in metabolism cages were use. The statistical design was a randomized blocks made by SISVAR 3.0 program. To calculate the nutrients consumption, the quantities supplied and the leftovers were weighed to form at the end of the period, a composite sample for laboratory analysis. There was significant difference (P<0.05) between treatment to consumption of DM (dry matter), OM (organic matter), CP (crude protein), EE (ether extract), NFC (non-fibrous carbohydrate), TCHO (Total Carbohydrates), ADF (acid detergent fiber), HEM (hemicelluloses), CEL (Cellulose), observing negative effect on consumption when included the by-product. There was no significant effect (P> 0.05%) between treatments to digestibility coefficients of DM, OM, energy, HEM, Cellular Content (CC), NFC and total digestible nutrients (TDN). Regarding the coefficient of digestibility of the ether extract (EE), as the by-product was included in the diet, increased the digestibility of this parameter. The digestibility of ADF and NDF decreased as it did the inclusion of the by-product of coconut. Thus, the use of byproduct over 6% of complete feed based on corn and soybeans meal is not recommended.
