El agua que consume la planta de algodón varia con respecto a la región donde se encuentre el cultivo, sin embargo, la distribución o el uso del agua durante su ciclo tiene aproximadamente la misma tendencia en todas las localidades. De esta manera, el consumo de agua en las primeras etapas de desarrollo del cultivo (establecimiento) es bajo (2 mm/día), debido a que el área foliar es pequeña el sistema de raíces superficial y las temperaturas altas. El período más crítico en el desarrollo del cultivo lo constituye el desarrollo de estructuras reproductivas, momento en el que el área foliar es máxima, el sistema de raíces profundo y las temperaturas más altas, en esta etapa las plantas consumen 3.8 mm/día. Luego, el consumo de agua disminuye a 2.2 mm/día cuando las plantas han alcanzado la madurez y el crecimiento vegetativo es muy bajo. La planta puede soportar un déficit de humedad al inicio de la etapa de formación de estructuras, favoreciendo la producción de más botones florales, sin embargo, la humedad debe restaurarse cuando comiencen a abrir las primeras flores, manteniendo un nivel adecuado hasta obtener un alto porcentaje de cápsulas maduras. Mediante un manejo adecuado de la humedad durante esta etapa crítica del cultivo se obtienen altos rendimientos de algodón de excelente calidad de fibra, ya que además de favorecer el llenado de la cápsula, se cumplen normalmente la elongación y engrosamiento de la fibra | Algodón-Gossypium herbaceum

Monografia (especialização) - Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Centro de Ciências Rurais, Curso de Especialização em Educação Ambiental, RS, 2010. | This study aimed to analyze a sequence of interdisciplinary activities developed in the Water Week, the Colleges Alto Iguaçu - FAI, Laranjeiras do Sul, Paraná, with students of Environmental Technology Management. The methodology adopted was the presentation of a sequence of lecture linked to courses offered in the course and the students' report thereon. We conclude that the active participation of students and teachers in the process of construction, progress and conclusions about the event were key to the proposal to address the interdisciplinary element of water has been reached. The academics and teachers demonstrated their concerns about the conditions of water resources, stressing the importance of Water Week and more, proposed complementary activities to follow up the interdisciplinary activities. | Este trabalho teve como objetivo analisar uma seqüência de atividades interdisciplinares desenvolvidas na Semana da Água, da FAI Faculdades Alto Iguaçu, de Laranjeiras do Sul, Paraná, com os acadêmicos do curso de Tecnologia em Gestão Ambiental. A metodologia adotada foi a apresentação de uma seqüência de palestra vinculada às disciplinas ofertadas no curso bem como o relato dos alunos sobre as mesmas. Conclui-se que a participação ativa dos acadêmicos e professores no processo de construção, andamento e conclusões sobre o evento foram fundamentais para que a proposta de abordar o elemento água interdisciplinarmente tenha sido alcançada. Os acadêmicos e professores demonstraram a suas preocupações sobre as condições dos recursos hídricos, salientam a importância da Semana da Água e mais, propuseram atividades complementares para dar seqüência às atividades interdisciplinares.

Karst caves exhibit a wide range of hydrological and hydrochemical responses to infiltration events, due to their physical heterogeneity space and dynamic variability over time, and due to non-Gaussian inputs (rain) and outputs (discharge). This paper reviews different approaches of studying seepage water in caves, in order to understand the infiltration regimen in the non-saturated zone of karst areas. As an illustration, we describe a four-year study of the active carbonate-water system the Cueva del Agua (Granada, southern Spain) that automatically logs the discharge from a stalactite. The results indicate that: (1) the drip water regime is not seasonal, but is linked instead to slow infiltration. Sudden changes in drip water regime occur due to infiltration along preferential flow paths and the draining of water of supersaturated water from reserves in the microfissure and pore system; (2) the drip rate is not linear over time. When dripping is constant, barometric oscillation of the air is the principal factor causing a chaotic a drip flow regime. Over a short period of two to three days, a mean variation in air pressure inside the cave of 10 (±3.7) mbar causes a oscillation the drip rate of 0.5 (±0.2) mm/h. The increase air translates into an the relative thickness of the gaseous phase of the drip water at the cost of the aqueous phase, so leading to a reduction the drip rate from the stalactite.
