[Household production]
2003
Eglite, A. (Latvia Univ. of Agriculture, Jelgava (Latvia))
Daily production in household exists, but this works is not paid, and not assessed in terms of money, so it is not included in GDP accountings. The author gives an overview of main factors in household, basic concepts of assessment and statistical materials about time consumption. Empirical investigations indicate that household works are unequally distributed between genders. However, gender-specific household work distribution is not the most significant. It is the situation in which both genders are satisfied with their role and life in general that matters.

At this time construction of factories, brick kilns, watermills and windmill construction were flourished. With the development of the shipbuilding industry, colonial policy tendencies were developed. Reaching Africa's shores, Courland got yourself colonies Tobago and Gambia. German farming estates and manor trends brought Courland and Livonia upswing not only agricultural management skills, but gave the contribution of architecture, painting and education. The same also applies to city buildings and parks are cultivated. For the development of the Baltic countries and cities the contribution gave the Russian province time after 1795. The first Baltic German cultural turmoil started with 1905, when many mansions were burned. Part of them managed to restore, the next wave of misery - World War I, condemn a number of the historic buildings of the manor, manor house interiors, library supplies, painting works. In its turn, the time of Latvian independence and agrarian land reform brought correction in spatial planning of Manors’ territories. Daļu no tām izdevās atjaunot, tad nākošais posta vilnis – I pasaules karš, pazudinot vairāku muižu vēsturisko apbūvi, kungu māju interjerus, bibliotēku krājumus, glezniecības darbus. Savukārt, Latvijas brīvvalsts laiks un agrārā zemes reforma ienesa korekcijas muižas teritoriju telpiskajā plānojumā.

To automatically record the ranging and laying behaviour, as well as the laying performance, an electronic pop hole and an electronic laying nest box were developed and evaluated. Both systems make it possible to gather data exactly from each individual animal over longer periods of time with low labour input. Through this, data on various behaviour and performance parameters during the whole laying time has become available for the first time. It can be used to optimise group housing systems and to breed hybrids, which are better adapted for group housing systems. An automatic identification and registration system has been developed which records the ranging behaviour of laying hens with RFID transponders. Results on the reliability of identification and the ranging behaviour of an entire flock over a full laying period are described. The transponders integrated into a wing tag enabled more than 97 % of all laying hens to be identified correctly while passing the pop hole. Evaluations of the ranging behaviour showed that the winter garden was used only by a maximum of 50 % of the animals and the length of stay varied between 2 and 8 hours per day.

1998
Harmeyer, J. (Tieraerztliche Hochschule Hannover (Germany). Physiologisches Inst.)
The research deals with the physiological clearance of trachea, bronchia and bronchiales in horses. Beside noxious gases the air may contain mechanical pollutants, e.g. dust particles of different sizes and chemical composition. These mechanical particles are discharged from the respiratory passages together with mucilage by means of the mucocilliar clearance mechanism. During the investigations in vitro the role of ciliated epithelium of the respiratory passages in the clearance process has been established. The process of the clearance mechanism has been recorded in a video-film.
