Purulento-necrotic infections of the tail in feedlot cattle. 1. Incidence, clinical course and pathological lesions

Outbreaks of purulento-necrotic infections of the tail in 1.5-2.0 year old bulls were described. The disease occurred during summer and affected 5.8-30% of the animals. In the majority of the bulls pathological lesions were restricted to the tail. In a number of the animals, however, inflammatory process was observed in the scrotum, and in muscles and joints of hind legs. In some cases abscesses in the lungs and thoracal cavity were noted
