Epistasis was detected for number of ears per plant in the three environments. Parents carried genes of different additive effects for number of ears per plant, number of spikelets on the main stem and number of grains per ear. The additive gene effect was stable for yield and yield components. except for spikelets on the main stem. The dominant gene effect was stable for yield and yield components and the epistatic gene effect was also stable for number of ears per plant
