Four pure fractions of neem Azadirachta indica A. Juss seeds and two extracts caused pronounced developmental abnormalities in the larvae of the rice leaffolder C. medinalis and the rice ear-cutting caterpillar M. separata. In control of rice leaffolder, development proceeded normally. Emergence of parasites from parasitized larvae was not affected. In all treatments in rice ear-cutting caterpillar, emerging moths showed varying degrees of wing deformities. Neem seed extract also caused a marked reduction in pupal weights
