The investigation of the effects of alpha-cyclopropyl-alpha-(4-methoxyphenyl)-5-pyrimidinemethanol (ancymidol) on the growth of marigold cv. Sovereign was conducted in two experiments. The results showed that in both experiments the number of applications had more influence than the concentrations in controlling the height. Foliar application applied 5 times at 50 and 100 ppm. appeared to give similar plant height which was a 36.9% reduction from that of the control, while 150 ppm. 5 applications gave 47.7% reduction. This foliar application gave similar results to that of the soil drench in which the quantity of 0.5 mg/pot with 5 applications caused the reduction in plant height for 44.2%. Ancymidol tended to cause an increase in flower size and caused a delay in anthesis of marigold. Increasing the number of applications and concentrations of ancymidol tended to cause an increase in the numbers of stomata per unit area
