[Resistance of high-oil restorer sunflower lines to sunflower blight (Plasmopara helianthi Novot.)[fungal diseases]]

Cuk, L.
Resistance of high oil restorer sunflower lines to sunflower blight (Plasmopara helianthi Novot.) was investigated. The following was concluded: Resistance to the investigated pathogene is determined by major genes. Resistance gene in the lines obtained from Woodland Restorer Gene Pool (WRGP) is Pl1 or Pl3. Resistance gene in the Soviet Progress variety lines is different from resistance genes determined so far. All investigated resistance genes Pl1, Pl2, Pl3 and Pl4 as well as genes originating from WRGP and Progress variety ensure complete resistance of sunflower to P. helianthi population in SFRY. Occurrence of nex P. helianthi races was not noticed. Resistance genes can be incorporated into susceptible lines by back crossing method with resistance testing. Resistance genes in new lines can be brought into homozygous state in the new self-pollination generations. Because of possible occurrence of new pathogene races, it is necessary to incorporate various genes of resistance to blight into commercial lines. Fertility restauration genes are discovered in the lines obtained from WRGP. The oil content in the seeds decreases in the self-pollination process. The value of the lines in terms of the oil content in the seeds should be tested through combining capabilities. Pl genes offer long-lasting resistance.
