Histomorphology of buffalo endometrial glands during different phases of estrous cycle

Histomorphological observations were made on the endometrium of twenty-five adult healthy, pluriparous cyclic Murrah buffaloes. Two of the endometrial glands viz., superficial and basal were identified. The simple, coiled tubular occasionally branched endometrial glands were dispersed in two distinct zones except in the caruncular area. The superficial glands showed significant variations, as regards their number per unit area of the endometrium, epithelial height and the lumen diameter in different phases of the estrous cycle. These changes were less pronounced in the basal glands
