Multilocational evaluation for protein content in oats revealed that both linear (b) and non-linear (Sd2) components contributed to total interactions almost equally. The cultivars Weston - 11 and OS-77 were specially suited to poor and better environments, respectively. Five best crosses, viz., OS7 X 2688 and 2688 X Weston-11 (general adaptation), OS-77 Weston-11 Flaming gold Westen-11, and 3021 X Weston-11 (specially suited to better environments) were identified. In general, parents were more responsive than their hybrids. The protein content, response and stability were found to be controlled by different gene systems
