Study on the development of a drum type corn sheller

This study has been carried out to find the optimum design factors, effected on the corn shelling performance and the rate of the damaged kernel according to the various corn moisture content and drum speed of sheller. As a result, a prototype corn sheller was fabricated tested in the fields and laboratories. The highest shelling performance was obtained at the drum speed 600rpm, 15.5-16.0% of corn moisture content. Under these conditions, the prototype has a capacity of 2,591kg per hr in corn shelling and 2.5% of kernel damage
