Dermatophytosis in domestic animals in Norway. Occurrence, epidemiological aspects and official regulations
1985
Stenwig, H. (Veterinaerinstituttet, Oslo (Norway))
A summary of epidemiological aspects of dermatophytosis is presented. Species often found in domestic animals are especially mentioned. Some results from the examination of 2598 samples from domestic animals received at the National Veterinary Institute in the period July 1981 to December 1984 are presented. The distributions of the different dermatophytes from the different domestic animals are presented. Demonstrations of Trichophyton equinum from dog and Microsporum canis from guinea pig are, as far as known, reported for the first time in Norway in the present paper. The results presented are in accordance with the epidemiological view on ringworm presented in the literature. The relation between the epidemiology of infections with dermatophytes and official regulations is also commented
