Study on the different methods of planting cigar filler tobacco
1983
Aggabao, C.L. | Agabin, F.C.
The usual quincuny and skip-row methods of planting tobacco yielded more fresh leaves than the wide row double planting method. In terms of dry yield they also produced more. The quincuny gave the highest yield. Variations on leaf quality, sizes of sand and top leaves, diameter of stalks and length internodes were not significant. The skip-row tended to produce the last high grade leaves. The standard leaves were bigger in the usual and skip-row methods than in the wide-row double planting, but were biggest in the quincuny method. There were more number of leaves in the usual, quincuny and skip-row than in the wide-row double planting. Plants were tallest in the usual method and shortest in the skip-row
