Results indicate that during the first reproductive cycle, the imported LW and DJ purebred gilts had higher incidence of repeat breeding (1.7 and 1.3 vs. 1.0) and incurred significantly higher piglet mortality at birth (30.1 and 23.5 vs. 1.5%) than those observed from the CLSU born LW gilts. During the second reproductive cycle, the imported LW and DJ purebred sows, likewise, weaned significantly fewer piglets (6.0 and 6.0 vs. 8.5) compared to the CLSU born LW sows. Other reproductive parameters collected were not significantly different among the three purebred treatment groupings. The CLSU-born LW sows had significantly higher litter size at bith (9.7 vs. 6.8) and at weaning (8.5 vs. 5.7) than the CLSU-botrn LW gilts. However, the imported LW and DJ purebreds demonstrated no significant differences between gilts and sows performance based on the above parameters. The present findings tend to suggest the poor adaptability of these imported LW and DJ purebreds to the CLSU conditions
