Generally, the respondents were in their late forties, predominantly male, were mostly married, and were fifth graders. They have been engaged in carabao raising for more than 20 years. There were six types of farming systems practiced in the three locations: rice-based; corn-based; coconut-based; sugarcane-based; rootcrop-based and vegetable-based. Rice-based farming was the most widely used by the respondents
