Influence of Rumensin [sodium monensin] and Salimomycin on the results of fattening of lambs

The lambs from weaning till 42 kg of body mass were fattened with all-mash feed and addition of 10 ppm Rumensin or 25 ppm Salinomycin per 1 kg of feed. It was stated that Rumensin affected the gain of body mass by 18% and Salinomycin increased the gains by 29%. The lambs fed with antibiotics took 10.5 and 20.1% less feed with improvement of feed efficiency. The carcasses of lambs fed with antibiotics addition, especially Rumensin, contained less flesh and more fat than the carcasses of control lambs
