The estimated genetic factor of variability appeared to be relatively high: h exp (2)= 0.81 for the lines and h exp (2)= 0.62 for the clones. The alkylresorcinol content in a developing grain increases proportionally to the area increase of the outer cuticle. The principal difference between rye and wheat species was about twofold lower the alkylresorcinol content in wheat grain than in rye
