Interception and its influence on the amount of atmospheric precipitations reaching the ground surface in forestry

Olszewski, J.L. (Polska Akademia Nauk, Bialowieza (Poland). Zaklad Badania Ssakow)
Representative precipitation measurements on the forest floor are required for the interception capacity determination. The number of 25-30 raingauges estabilished at regular intervals on the ground surface is practically sufficient for this purpose. There is close relationship between the precipitation amount on the forest floor and the precipitation sum above forest. The interception depends on age and species composition of stand. Snowfalls, rime and wind also affects the precipitation distribution and hydrological balance
