Genetic control of self incompatibility of rye (Secale cereale L.) particularly taking into account number of alleles of multiple genes S and Z
1985
Kaczmarek, J.
The genetic analysis was based on determination of number of grains in an ear and germination ability of pollen on the partner plant in various pollination systems. On the basis of the analysis the conclusion had been drawn that the Ruebenbauer's hypothesis about interaction of the modifier genes Vvf, Yyf and the S and Z self-incompatible genes was highly probable. In the population of rye there may occur homozygotes both in one and in two series of alleles and double heterozygotes. The approximate ratio, 1:1, of the single and double heterozygotes suggests similar number of alleles in the S and Z loci. On the basis of results obtained in 4 experiments 3 to 5 different alleles were found, at the S locus from whereas at the Z locus 3 to 4 different multiple alleles
