Physiology of grapevine [Vitis spp.]
1984
Saric, M. (ed.)
A number of supplements treating literature data about the new, more important results of the investigation of physiological properties of grapes is published in this publication. Photosynthesis of grapes (chloroplast structure, their functions, carboxylation, metabolism of the adopted C and influence of biotic and abiotic factors on it), water regime (through indicators of morphological and anatomic properties, transpiration intensity and the synthesis and quality of the organic matter), resistance of grapes to low temperatures, the growth and development of some grape organs (seedlings, root, shoots, leaves, winter buds, racemes) is investigated. The influence of abiotic factors on metabolism processes of grapes, the effect of endogenous phytohormones (cytokinins, giberellin, auxin, abscisic acid, ethylene) and applied growth regulators is discussed. Effect of hormones and applied growth regulators on the quality and quantity of yield is treated too. The factors affecting the processes during the ontogenesis of grapes are described. Literature data about grape tissue culture are treated very thoroughly. The morphological and physiological properties that an ideal variety should have are described. Each supplement has a very long list of the literature used. The supplements are illustrated and the discussed data are presented in tables and graphically. Each supplement has a summary in English at the end. The publication has 11 supplements.
