Virulence gene frequence and survival ability in barley powdery mildew isolates
1985
Meah, M.B.
The number of virulence genes in 10 single spore isolates of Erysiphe graminis f. sp. hordei were estimated on the basis of the infection types produced by them on a set of 31 barley differentials. Relative survival ability of each of the isolates was determined by growing the isolates in binary mixtures with CR3 as standard isolate on two barley cultivars, Pallas and Lofa, for seven successive generations. All of the isolates but two, with more than one virulence gene, survived better on both cultivars than the standard isolate, CR3 having the least (two) number of virulence genes
