Fertilizer management for maximizing economic yield of potato [in Bangladesh]
1986
Islam, M.S. | Hossain, K.M. | Razia, S.
Field experiments on potato conducted during the 'rabi' season of 1981-82, 82-83 and 83-84 in the grey floodplain soils of Potato Research Sub-station, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute, Munshiganj showed favourable yield responses to different fertilizer treatments. The effects of N and K were more prominent and distinct compared to other nutrient elements. S and Zn application had little effect on the yield. N application failed to increase per cent N content in tuber significantly possibly due to more vegetative growth. P and K concentrations in the tuber were significantly influenced by their addition. N and P addition also registered significant K concentration in tuber. N uptake progressively increased with increasing addition of N doses. N application also increased P and K uptake. Noticeable increase in the uptake of K was observed when K was added. During 1983-84 though S was not added, N and P application significantly influenced the uptake of S by tubers.
