Alam, M.S. | Razzaque, C.A.
The experiment was conducted at all Union Rice Research Institute (Krasnodar), USSR in the year 1978-1989 and at the farm of Bangladesh Agricultural University in the boro season of 1978-79. Sixty plants were randomly selected for each veriety or line and observations were recorded on eighteen characters - duration of growing period, plant height, number of effective tillers, length of panicle number of grain per plant, yield per plant, weight of 1000 seed and others. Duration of growing period was in the year 1978-128-147; 1979-116-135 and 19/8/79-131-145 days which was earlier as compared with local varieties (161-170 days). Better performance was found in characters - yield per plant, number of effective tillers and number of grain per plant. It should be mentioned that in Bangladesh decrease of plant height and increase of grain number per plant accompanied with decrease of panicle length and 1000 seed weight respectively
