A comparative study of flood frequency analysis in Bangladesh
1986
Rahman, R. | Ahmed, S.M.U.
It is important to follow a uniform distribution in flood frequency analysis. To find out a suitable distribution, four widely used distributions have been selected and tested. These distribution namely: (1) Lognormal (2) Pearson Type III. (3) Log Pearson Type III and (4) Extreme Value Type I, have been applied to a selected group of long record representative sites within Bangladesh. The results show that, among the distributions tested, the Extreme Value Type I(Gumbel) distribution gave the most stable results and this distribution may therefore be recommended in flood frequency analysis of Bangladesh.
