A replicated field experiment was conducted at the Bangladesh Regional Agricultural Research Station, Hathazari, during Jan-June 85 to study the performance of nine cultivars of bittergourd collected from Chittagong and Comilla. The study revealed that there are significant variations among the cultivars in respect to yield and yield contributing characters like, number of fruits per plant, number of seeds per fruit, yield per plant and total yield (t/ha). The cultivars did not differ from one another for flowering and fruiting time. Accession No. 5 produced the longest fruit (16.55 cm) whereas Accession No. 3 produced fruits with widest diameter (7.73 cm) showing on significant difference among themselves. Maximum number of fruits/plant (8.62) and also the highest yield (7.29 t/ha) was obtained from Accession No.9.
