Foliar application of 1000, 2500 and 4000 ppm potassium naphthenate treatment on the Okinawa variety of sweet potato increased the leaf area and chlorophyll a content of leaf. Leaf number increased in 1000 and 2500 ppm treatments at 60 days and decreased in 4000 ppm at 30 days. Increase in chlorophyll b was observed in 1000 and 2500 ppm treatments except in 120 days; 4000 ppm decreased the same at 90 and 120 days. All the three treatments increased carotenoid contents of leaf in all the stages except at 1000 ppm at 30 days and 4000 ppm at 120 days. (Beta)carotene content of tuber increased in all stages except at 30 days following 1000 ppm treatment; 2500 ppm treatment increased the same at 60 and 90 days and 4000 ppm at 90 days only. More starch in the tubers was found at certain growth stages of the treated plants.
