Effects of photosynthetic area on grain yield of sorghum

Observations taken on per plant basis also indicated that with the increase in leaf area there was an increase in grain yield by increasing number of grains/cob and test weight up to T 8 treatments. The top three leaves contributed as much as 61.3% to the grain yield. It appears that these sorghum genotypes have more leaf area than its actual requirement. Hence, where leaves are closer spaced the types having about 2354 cm2 leaf area at flowering may be selected
