Culture of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus Florida) on five farms wastes at different levels of ammonium sulfate [Philippines]
1984
Danciang, C.
Higher yield was obtained under laboratory condition than field condition. Rice straw substrate produced the highest yield and biggest diameter of fruiting bodies while sawdust gave the lowest yield and the smallest diameter of fruiting bodies. Fertilization with ammonium sulfate at the rate of 4 gm/gal of water significantly increased the yield. Incidence of pests and diseases affected the growth and yield but the damages were below economic threshold. Analysis of the nutrient compositions of the substrates revealed that crude protein was highest in the ipil-ipil (15.10 percent) and lowest in sawdust (3.22 percent). Rice straw gave the highest crude fat content with 0.35% and sawdust gave the lowest with 0.14%
