1985
Miller, H. | Newton, A. | Wood, B. (West Indies Univ., Cave Hill (Barbados). Dept. of Chemistry)
The use of insecticides is widespread, with most farms using more than 6 different products. The most widely used are Diazinon, Lannate, Chlordane, Orthene and Malathion. Fungicides are less widely used, Benlate, Bravo, Captan, Kocide, Manzate and Tri-miltox-forte being the most common. Less than one quarter of farms use herbicides in vegetable fields though Gramoxone is used extensively in sugarcane cultivation. The toxicity of these agrochemicals and their persistence in the environment are discussed
