[Law of admittance of newly created varieties, approving the introduction into production the imported varieties and the protection of agricultural and forest varieties of plants [Yugoslavia]]

According to this Yugoslav Law the acceptance of newly created varieties, the approval of introduction into production the imported varieties and protection of these varieties is done in order to increase the agricultural and forest production, quality of products, profitability, permanent application of better varieties, stimulation in creating new varieties, protection of variety explorers' rights and interests, making conditions for better collaborations with other countries in relation to these problems, and protection of producers' and consumers' interests. Newly created variety will be approved or imported variety will be put into production only if it is biologically different from generally known varieties and if it satisfies other legal conditions. According to this Law, the basic characteristics of a variety are: greater quantity of yield, content of protein, carbohydrate, fats, minerals, vitamins, fragrance etc., resistance to diseases, pests, high and low temperature, surplus or lack of moisture content and other elements important for volume and quantity of product. The organization of associated labour where the variety which was approved according to this Law was created, and creators from this organization have the moral and material rights established by this Law. Moral right of variety creator is that he would be cited in the registration form and all other documents, i.e. if there are more creators they all are to be cited, according to the order of their participation in creating a new variety. In order to be approved as a new variety, a demand is to be submitted to a competent federal organ which has the right to ask for inspection of all documentation
