The investigation dealt with the influence of the green plant upper stratum dominated by Festuca montana on the oak (Quercus petraea) acorns germination and sprouting. As concerns the eco-formation Festuca montana -Quercus patraea it was established that the acorns exhibited poor germination in the shrubs of Festuca montana. The largest number of sprouts was established in the experiments including removal of the overground Festuca montana organs (the alternative with rotten leaf layer) and removal of over and underground organs. The smallest number was counted in the thick green stratum dominated by Festuca montana with a rotten leaf layer. The highest vitality of the sprouts was found in the experiment which included removal of over and underground Festuca montana organs with a rotten leaf layer. The rotten leaf layer was one of the important factors for successful germination of acorns and growth of Quercus petraea sprouts. However, in the case of the thick green stratum dominated by Festuca montana, in spite of the presence of the rotten leaf layer, the acorns germination and sprout growth were poor.
