Since wool is an important commodity in Iranian sheep industry, this publication has been prepared to inform all who are interested in gaining information on the wool of native Iranian sheep. The first section of the bulletin informs about the wool characteristics such as thickness, length, elasticity, curl, percent grease, per head production, fiber composition, strength and percent plant material, etc. Lab methods used for testing the above mentioned characteristics are also discussed. The first part of the second section consists of case history of studies carried out on the wool of the Moghani breed. The second part discusses ways and means of evaluating characteristics, histograms and curves on wool density and composition (percent kemp, hair, wool, hetrotype etc.), grease, length, thickness.
