Tobacco business in Muang district Chiang Mai province [Thailand]

It was found that Virginia tobacco in Chiang Mai Province and other provinces was of better filler quality as compared with other countries. But the farmers had not much experience. The geographical environment was not suitable for planting. Thai farmers began to plant on rainy season to cold season, while developed countries started from cold season to summer season. Furthermore, the cost of production was little bit higher and production is lower per rai compared to some other developed countries. Because of the farmers' insufficient knowledge and their lack of awareness of modern technology from the Tobacco Board, this created some problems in pricing and quality. However, Thai Tobacco was potential to improve its quality from filler to semi-classical. If the similar seeds and processing were used here as they were used in other developed countries, then it would bring Thai Tobacco to the level of internationa0807l standard.
