A reconnaisance study of soil and water management in seven states of the Leeward and Windward Islands is briefly described. Five priority sites for education, St. Lucia (2 sites), Montserrat, Nevis and Carriacou are suggested. Measurements of water loss, seepage and recharge rates for ponds in Antigua were made. Seepage losses were lower than expected, 40-225 mm per month
