Selection of mulberry (Morus alba L.) variety resistant to leaf-spot disease
1988
Pasha, K. | Barman, A.C.
Incidence of leaf-spot disease caused by Cercospora moricola Cooke was studied in five high yielding mulberry varieties namely, C-776, S-799, S-1, S and V-5. Observations over a period of three years showed significant variation in the susceptibility among the tested varieties. The variety S-799 was found relatively resistant to leaf-spot disease under the natural conditions of the three years, while the variety S occupied the second position. Total infection as well as intensity of slight, moderate and severe infections were also significantly less in S-799 variety compared to others and therefore, S-799, was recommended for commercial cultivation.
