The present paper deals mainly with the studies of the dynamic states of water potential of the shoot, synthetic function and metabolic function of tea plant under the condition of different soil water content. Results showed that under the condition of drought or waterlogging, the water potential dropped, the growth of the leaf slowed down. Results also showed there were decreases in the activities of polyphenol oxidase peroxidase activities of the shoot, the capacities of photosynthesis and synthetic metabolism of tea plant, but increase in the electrical conductivity of the shoot. There is a significant effect of drought on yield, waterlogging and quality
