Preliminary studies on the nutritive composition and the use of fruit of cherokee rose

The fruit of the cherokee rose (Rosa Laevigata Michx. ) was a wild small fruit and rich in nutritive materials. According to the results of the analysis with high performance liquid chromatography, it contained 16 kinds of amino acids, which were the composition of protein, and among which, 7 kinds were necessary for mankind. The total content of VC (vitamin C) was 700-900 mg/100g, and more than 90% of them were reduced VC. Thus, it was the high-grade VC raw material, in which the VC had both, good stability and high physiological value. The fruit juice and other products to be processed from the fruit of cherokee rose, which could be used as abundant nutritive beverage and natural VC concentrate, had good taste, beautiful colour and lustre, rich nutrition.
