The effects of plant number per hill and moisture stress on yield of maize (Zea mays L.)
1980
Quashigah, P.K.
The effects of planting rate per hill and moisture stress on the yield of maize is reported. Four treatments containing 1, 2, 3 and 4 plants per hill were used and the plots irrigated when moisture stress was at pF values of 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5. At the frequent irrigation (pf 2.5), no difference was found in yield between 1 to 3 plants per hill. Yields, leaf area index, stover yield and yield components were reduced as the number of plants per hill increased
