The effect of photoperiod on the nodulation, growth, flowering and seed yield of the winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus (L) DC.)
1977
Nyalemegbe, K.D.
Winged bean seeds were grown under four photoperiodic regimes. Root nodule weight and number, and growth of shoot and roots increased under long photoperiods but the rate of shoot growth was lower than root growth, the reverse being true for the short day treatment. The degree of flowering, fruitset and yield was higher under the short photoperiodic condition (8 hrs) than the normal day condition (12 hrs). Pod length, pod weight, seed number and weight per pod were all not affected by the daylight period
