Effect of TIBA (2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid) on certain plant characteristics and yield of a determinate and indeterminate cultivar of soybean (Glycine max)
1979
Abutiate, G.K.
The effect of TIBA (2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid), a plant growth regulator was determined using a split-plot design on two soybean cultivars, Williams (indeterminate) and CES 407 (determinate) at 0, 25, 50 and 75 g/ha. The chemical was applied during flowering as an aerial spray. Plant height was reduced, and the number of pods per plant increased significantly. Grain yield per hectare, internode length, number of seeds per pod, 100-seed weight and number of flowers per plant did not show any significant responses. Cultivar CES 407 gave more consistent response. TIBA treatments did not appear to increase yields of the two cultivars but could enhance yields in CES 407
